• quirky behavior following MacOS update

I recently did an update of MacOS High Sierra to 10.13.4 and things have changed in a way I cannot understand. The Apache server still seems to work as does the PHP scripting and MySQL database. However, among other things, the PHP code seems to be
executed (for the most part) AND sent to the client page as part of the HTML. Needless to say, Firefox doesn't know what to do with this code. It's trying to interpret it as XML.
The only thing I've done to resolve is update PHP. Honestly, I don't know if the update changed the version at all; I may have had the latest version before the update. If I knew how, I would update Apache as well, but I think it's done automatically
as part of the OS update.
