• Why QGIS should be part of everyone's GIS quiver

From Mike Miller@21:1/5 to All on Thu Apr 20 12:13:56 2017
After 15 years as a GIS specialist and database manager for small but growing environmental consulting firms I've become a firm believer that QGIS should be part of everyone's GIS quiver.

Its not perfect. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that ArcGIS does. There are some things that ArcGIS does better. But what QGIS does, it does very, very, well and for free. This is especially true when you want to dip your toes in the waters
of multi-user enterprise level GIS systems and secure web-based interfaces to your data. I'm not ready to abandon ArcGIS yet but I would never want to be without QGIS either. Here is why.
