• NTSC vs PAL Borders on Vice for Vic-20

From Lawrence Woodman@21:1/5 to All on Wed Aug 21 07:55:33 2019
    Hello,

I've been switching back and forth between NTSC and PAL video modes when emulating a Vic-20 under Vice and was wondering why the borders are so
much bigger when using PAL. I would expect there to be a small
difference in the vertical display, but was wondering why there is such
    a big difference in both.

How representative is this of what would be seen on a real television
set for NTSC vs PAL displays?

    Best wishes

    Lorry

    It's 525 versus 576 lines. That's roughly 10% difference. But I can
confirm it looks like way more than 10% between the two modes. It might
have to do with the aspect ratio but I'm just guessing.
