I had problems starting the C128 emulation in VICE. It complaints about a missing kernalch (Swiss kernal?). I couldn't find it online and no one I
know using VICE replied to my request. So I instead linked kernalde to it
and it works.
Then I was wondering why does the C128 emulation need kernals (shouldn't
it be kernEls?) for different countries? In the emulator I changed to
French or Spanish and did a hard reset. But the font was always English.
I would also not assume it has to do with the keyboard layout. That is
handled elsewhere. I seem to remember "kernel maps" somewhere.
Lastly, why would kernalch (Switzerland) be needed if there is already
kernalde (Germany)? I know they speak Italian and French next to German
in Switzerland. That makes it even more confusing. And there is no
kernalit (Italy) needed; I don't have it and VICE doesn't complain.
