• Verizon May Have Just Enrolled You in a Data-Collection Scheme - Here's

From Moderator@21:1/5 to All on Fri Dec 3 16:44:48 2021
The mobile carrier is reportedly gathering customers' contacts, app usage, and location information.

    By Phillip Tracy

Verizon customers who value their privacy should immediately opt-out
of the phone carrier's disturbing new data tracking service.

As reported by Input, "Verizon Custom Experience" is a program being
pitched to users as a way for the company to "personalize our
communications with you, give you more relevant product and service recommendations, and develop plans, services and offers that are more
    appealing to you."

Verizon is opting mobile users in to a new tracking system. You have to go
to their web site to opt out.

I wish they would just be a telecom company and transport bits without inspection or modification.

    How it works
The program uses information about websites you visit and apps you use on
your mobile device to help us better understand your interests. This helps
us personalize our communications with you, give you more relevant product
and service recommendations, and develop plans, services and offers that
    are more appealing to you.

To be very clear, this information is used only by Verizon; we do not sell
this information to others for them to use for their own advertising.

I think the public interest, convenience, and necessity reuqies that I
provide a satirical "Telecom Digest" translation guide so that readers
can more easily undertand Verizon's "Monopoly Bureaucratese."
