Can anyone tell that what is the data rates of VC-4,VC-3,VC-12
actually available to client in case of Ethernet over SDH (EOS).
Generally we say STM-1 equals to 155Mbps, VC-3 of 45Mbps
VC-12 of 2.048Mbps but what are the rates at which customer can communicate.
Hello Najam,
You ask:
Can anyone tell that what is the data rates of VC-4,VC-3,VC-12
actually available to client in case of Ethernet over SDH (EOS).
Generally we say STM-1 equals to 155Mbps, VC-3 of 45Mbps
VC-12 of 2.048Mbps but what are the rates at which customer can communicate.
Please read ITU-T recommendation G.707 (it is frre to download on
the ITU-T site).
Figure 6-1 shows the bandwidth provided bij the payload area in
each of the VC-n containers.
Also mapping of different client signals is in clause 10 of the same recommendation.
In general the bandwidth of the client signal is not determined by
the payload of a VC-n but for transporting a specific clinet signal
the appropriate VC-n is selected.
For Ethernet GFP and LCAS are used to transport client signals most efficiently (no wasted bandwidth) see recomentations G.7041 and G.7047.
Best regards, Huub.
