• alarm management-log-discriminator constructor

    Hi,
I know the usage of the fault cause is in the alarm management for production of the alarms.
there is a diagram included alarm management blocks in G.7710
I study about the LOG block.
In [G.7710] there is some information about it but not mentioned in details and is noticed to discriminator construct and for more detail referenced to X.735. I study it but I can't know what it is exactly.
"A discriminator construct specifies the characteristics a potential log record or received event report must have in order to be selected for logging.
It provides a description of the type of information to be logged.
This attribute specifies tests on the information that is to be logged. The discriminator construct may operate on any of the parameters of the information to be logged."

Is there anyone know information or refrence about attributes, functionality and so on discriminator constructor in the log.

    thanks in advance,
    Elanz

    Hello Elaz,

As you can see in figure 17 of G.7710 the log function
has a "query" as input, as well as a defect value (rZZZ-value)
    and defect severity (rZZZ-severity).

The discriminator construct is used to filter the inputs.
It is a formula, just like IF...THEN...ELSE, or CASE... etcetera

You may want to monitor certain defects with a certain severity
at a certain layer between certain terminations...

    Best regards, Huub.

Thak you so much for your reply,
I have another question about LOG.
My imagination about log is a repository for records and I think we might have had one log in the system that might have shown all alarms of the system. but in standard (X.735) one of the log attributes is log id, so I think we might have had the numbers
    of log in the system.
My question is how many logs we have in the system?
what are the factors of the divided log?

    Best regards,
    Elnaz

Logs are in general for performance monitoring.

In G.784 7.3.2.1 Performance data collection for maintenance purposes
you will find a description of several logs/registers and their purpose.

    Kind regards, Huub.

    Dear Huub,
The log I have been speaking about used in fault management as repository the records(alarms).
Is your mean the logs and registers are one thing?
and for example, we have one log for collecting alarms in fault management and some logs for 15-minute registers and 15-minute registers in performance monitoring?

    Best regards,
    Elnaz

Yes. In a log(book) you register events, or in a register you
log events, it is the same.

and for example, we have one log for collecting alarms in fault > management and some logs for 15-minute registers and 15-minute
    registers in performance monitoring?

It is free for the programmer to decide how the registers implemented.

    Kind regards, Huub.
