    Hi,
In G.783 is mentioned that Rs and Ms connection functions are not applicable. I'd wonder why they are defined at all!
    Best Regards,
    Elnaz

    Hello Elnaz,

    You wonder:

In G.783 is mentioned that Rs and Ms connection functions are
not applicable. I'd wonder why they are defined at all!

They are defined to match the generic functional model where
between an adaptation function connection point and a termination
function connection point there is always a connection function.

In general the MS and RS connection function are simple point
to point connections which do not have to be managed.
So, from a management point of view they are not applicable.

    Best regards, Huub.

thank you so much for your reply,
    I have another question,
Can be used Rs connection function as regenerator mode?
    Best regards,
    Elnaz

Yes, that is possible. See ITU-T recommendation G.783
    Figure III.1/G.783 – STM-16 regenerator model

(this is also applicable to any STM-N)

    Kind regards, Huub.
