• Related to OTN alarm propagation for 3 node scenario

From harshooo143@gmail.com@21:1/5 to All on Sat Apr 7 03:52:21 2018
Can anyone explain the alarm propagation in OTN in 3 node setup i.e A --B--C and if TX to RX fiber is cut in between B and C. In this case how alarm propagation will happen? What alarms will i see on OTU ODU OPU layers in all three nodes?

    Hello Harsh

    You ask:

Can anyone explain the alarm propagation in OTN in 3 node setup > i.e A--B--C--D and if TX to RX fiber is cut in between B and C.
In this case how alarm propagation will happen? What alarms
will i see on OTU ODU OPU layers in all three nodes?

I have extended the link a little to make it more general.

In the forward direction (node A to node D):
Note C will report signal fail (SF) on the received OTUk
Node D will report server signal fail (SSF) on the ODUk used for
the test signal. Output of node D is AIS.

In the backward direction (node D to node A)
Node B may report remote defect (RDI) on OTUk.
Node A may report remote defect (RDI) on ODUk used for test.
Test signal sent from node D ot node A is not affected.

    Best regards, Huub.

    Hi Hubb,

I hope in Upstream direction (D->A) OTN gets BDI instead of RDI (used at SDH/SONET).
