• Adding Auxilary standby dynamically

From Shashi Shekhar@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jun 16 05:47:46 2017
    Hello All,

    Working on DB2 LUW V10.5.

WE have got add new standby ( auxilary standby) to our existing HADR cluster ( with TSA) .

I can see Multi standby is enabled already ( i.e. "hadr_target_list " already has value on both primary and standby) .

Saying "Multi Standby" is already enabled , we can add or remove additional standby server dynamically.

so currently our system has Primary and one Standby and need to add one new standby.

Way (1)==> wanted to confirm below steps will help to get it done?

    - take full online backup on primary
    - restore on new Standby ( Auxiliary) and keep in rollforward state
    - configure HADR parameters on Auxiliary standby
    - configure HADR_TARGET_LIST on primary, principal standby and auxilary standby.

to take 'hadr_target_list' into effect need to stop and start hadr which planning to do as follows -

    - stop hadr on Primary [As TSA is enabled, hoping primary will be still responsive and down time requried ]
    - start hadr on principal standby as standby
    - start hadr on auxilary standby as standby
    - start hadr on primary as Primary

so the steps should not need any downtime? please let me know if my assessment will work?

Way (2) ==> Or after just building auxilary standby and updating "hadr_target_list" on all servers ( primary, standby, auxilary) and then just starting hadr on auxilary will help?

Thanks for your time in advance.

    Regards
    Shashi
