• Question about DB2 under Z/VSE

From Sergio Lima@21:1/5 to All on Mon Oct 2 05:16:57 2023
    Hello List,

Does anyone know if DB2 Z/VSE accepts row LOCKS in tables?
We are having a lot of page LOCK problems.
Any information will be very welcome.

Thank you very much and Best Regards.

    Hi Sergio,

I know nothing of this product except that I thought it was discontinued years ago. Anyway, I did a bit of Googling:

    1) The product End Of Support date was in fact 30/09/2023, so you are 3 days too late :-)
    2) See the Quick Reference manual at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/db2-server-vse-750-manuals-pdf for useful information.
    3) From that manual, I see that the ALTER DBSPACE command can be used to set lock granularity to ROW, and that *possibly* catalog table SYSDBSPACES can be used to query the current lock granularity (column LOCKMODE?).

    Good luck,

    Jeremy Rickard

Hi Jeremy, Thank you very much for your help.
Actually, I wrote it wrong, DB2 for Z/VSE has another name now:
ARI4028I SDB Server for VSEn Version 7 Release 6 Modification 0.
And the z/VSE product is no longer supported by IBM but by 21CSW.
I'll look at the documentation you mentioned.
Thank you very much again and greetings from the city of São Paulo, Brazil

    Hi Sergio,

Hope it helped, and thanks for the information about z/VSE living on as VSEn (https://21cs.com/vsen/).

Greetings from Auckland, New Zealand :-)
