    I have db2 on a server

    4 more machines in the network

    should I install something on the network machines to access db2?

    Yes. Most likely, you will need to install suitable type of DB2 client
    software on the network machines.

    What kind of DB2 client software depends on what kind of software the
    clients are going to be running. E.g., if it's a Java application, they
    you just need a couple of jar files (and it might even be distributed
    with the application, so that you don't need to do anything).

    Of course, you will need either a DB2 client software or at least a DB2 odbc/jdbc driver.
