Hi all,
I just use a Replace with calculated result operation, using a
GetSummary function - and now have lots of time to write this message,
while observing how slowly the "Records remaining to update" counter
drops.
Did you observe how painfully slow this operation is (FMP 11)? Is this
any better with newer versions?
I wonder about the speed since I suppose a calculation with related
records and a "previous" relation will be much faster. A simple addition
from previous::value plus current value will be much faster than
summarizing again and again the current value. That's my guess using GetSummary: the summary will be recomputed for each and every record
again and again, not reusing the running total count from the previous
record instead.
