Sorry for the necro post but in Judaism the right of being born
Jewish. Being a matinal lineage would mean David Duchovny was born
Jewish. Even if the mother converts after the fact and the child was
born they would still be considered being Jewish born.
But the post you resurrected and quoted says that David's mother was not
a Jew until she converted .... so, unless she converted BEFORE David's
birth, David wouldn't be Jewish ... unless *HE* converted later!!
