I also doubt it. I suspect Season 10 was planned to allow

I'm afraid they are setting us up for a "2nd generation" X-Files with
agents Miller & Einstein in the lead and maybe occasional appearances of
    Mulder & Scully.

Very much hope I am wrong.

Yes I wondered about that also and if so it's a sad old state of affairs
as the series is built around two solid characters and I'm not that
convinced a set of fresh faces with the odd cameo from the old actors
would carry the show very far.

Given that we are unlikely to get more than 5 or 6 episodes
every couple of years using Anderson and Duchovny I would have
no problem with them exploring the value of new characters
in the basement. Not so sure if Robbie Amell is right for the
part but Lauren Ambrose was excellent.

They tried that already; so-so reaction from the fans as to Doggett and Reyes.

Yep. Exactly. If the young believer/skeptic couple would have only been featured in "Babylon" I'd have taken it as a creative decision for that episode. Like a little wink to the past.

But they brought them back in episode 6. And one could very much take
the ending to mean that Mulder and Scully are taken by the UFO and
Miller and Einstein left behind with a vaccine in their hands to safe themselves and possibly others.

I take the freedom to re-crosspost to alt.tv.x-files.
