WASHINGTON, DC: According to a recent report, immigration judges rejected deportation proceedings against about 200,000 migrants because the
Department of Homeland Security under President Biden neglected to submit
the necessary documents before their court appearances.
Notably, Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) at Syracuse University issued a report on Wednesday, March 20, that stated that courts
were left without authority to judge on asylum claims and manage
deportation cases because the DHS failed to appear in thousands of notices before scheduled hearing dates.
Migrant deportation of 200K cases tossed due to lack of paperwork
The TRAC report stated, "These large numbers of dismissals and what then happens raise serious concerns."
The 'almost total lack of transparency on where and why these DHS failures occurred' was deemed 'troubling' by the unbiased research team.

The report further stated, "Equally troubling is the lack of solid
information on what happened to these many immigrants when DHS never
rectified its failure by reissuing and filing new NTAs to restart their
Court cases."
Notably, when migrants are caught entering the US illegally, they are
given notices to appear, or NTAs. When a migrant requests asylum, they are given a hearing date, sometimes years in advance, and are given the chance
to argue before an immigration court why they shouldn't be deported.
However, for the hearing to take place, the NTA needs to be submitted to
the court where the person is summoned to appear.
The TRAC report explains, "Almost all Immigration Court cases are removal
cases for which DHS must file an NTA for the case to go forward."
Furthermore, following Biden's election, the number of cases dismissed for
lack of NTA filings increased dramatically, from 6,482 in 2020 to 33,802
in 2021.
Moreover, after skyrocketing to 79,592 in 2022, the number of NTAs dropped
to 68,869 in 2023. According to the report, 10,598 deportation cases have
been rejected in 2024 thus far since there have been no NTAs.
Less than 1% of deportation cases between 2014 and 2020 were dropped due
to non-filing of NTAs with the courts.
Internet slams Biden administration for lack of paperwork
Several social media users took a jibe at the Biden administration as they failed to complete the paperwork that resulted in the rejection of
deportation proceedings against about 200,000 migrants.
A user on X wrote, "Give me the paperwork. I'll do them" while one added,
"This is treason."
A user also wrote, "We need to deport the Biden Administration."
A person also mentioned, "200k immigrants only cost 10B a year to have
them hanging about waiting."
One noted, "We can all see this is intentional, this administration
doesn't care about the American people."
A user further stated, "He probably forgot it was due..."
