Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he intends to
press ahead with an invasion of the city of Rafah on the southern
border of the Gaza Strip in defiance of U.S. President Joe Biden,
who has warned such an offensive would be a "red line."
. . .
Looks like Bebe is gonna go for it - strike while the
proverbial iron is hot and before other nations can
fully react. Clearly he is a man on a mission here -
he promised to end Hamas and that is exactly what he
intends to do no matter the cost to their human shields
or Israel's short-term popularity.
Human shields may not be as popular after this ...
Netanyahu enjoyed a political resurrection - but he
has also suffered some episodes with his health. He
is no longer a young man. This is going to be his last
hurrah and he knows it. Therefore there's no reason to
hold back. (I suspect similar logic behind Putin's
adventures)
Since seemingly forever now, Israel has been under
constant low-level attack by Hamas. They had to
build the expensive Irondome system because of all
the rockets - a passive defense. Hamas has been doing
raids and sabotage ... but went WAY WAY too far on
Oct 7th. At some point you HAVE to squish the
ant-hill.
