It wasn't a copy. It was the original which is turned over to the speaker to

As far as the crime. 18USC2071(a)

See, as a matter of law, copies have very limited value, only the original
has any real legal weight. She destroy the one and only original.

Now, I agree that this particular document is of very limited legal value,
but still as speaker it was her duty to see such documents are turned over
to the archives for storage She failed her duty as speaker.

NARA didn't expect any of those copies to be returned.

    It was disrespectful and childish.

At the very least. It was also a violation of her obligations as speaker,
and probably illegal if someone really wanted to push the issue.

Of course, as also know that politicians, particularly Democrats, see themselves as above the law.

See, the copy handed to the Speaker is the ORIGINAL.. which is to be filed

It's destruction would seem to directly violate 18USC2071(a)

So yes, Nancy's little 'theatrics' were much more significant legally and historically, than an exercise (even if disrespectful) of free speech.

"Pelosi Tearing Up SOTU Speech Not A Crime"

WASHINGTON (AP) — There’s no disputing that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi caused
quite a stir when she tore up her copy of President Donald Trump’s State of
the Union speech at the end of his address. Pelosi said she decided to shred
what she saw as a “compilation of falsehoods” to make a statement ”that
clearly indicates to the American people that this is not the truth.” Trump
and his Republican allies, for their part, saw Pelosi’s action as an act of
disrespect [richly deserved] — and an illegal one at that. Legal experts
disagreed, saying the speech was Pelosi’s to do with what she wanted.

TRUMP: “I thought it was a terrible thing when she ripped up the speech.
First of all, it’s an official document. You’re not allowed. It’s illegal
what she did. She broke the law.”

    THE FACTS:

Legal experts say no laws were broken. They said it was not an original
government document, but Pelosi’s copy of the speech.

Steven Aftergood, a records expert at the private Federation of American
Scientists, said: “Legally, this is a non-issue. Pelosi was expressing
contempt [richly deserved] for the president’s speech, and her views are
constitutionally protected.” He said her torn-up pieces of the speech might
themselves be considered a new record of historical value.

Laurence Tribe, a constitutional law professor at Harvard University, said
Pelosi did not violate 18 U.S. Code Section 2071, the federal law defining
the deliberate destruction of an official record that *has been filed with a*
*court or other government agency* — a felony punishable by a prison term and
    by forfeiture of office.

Heidi Kitrosser, a law professor at the University of Minnesota, said: “This
is *not an archival document*. ... This is one of many, many, many copies of
President Trump’s speech and Nancy Pelosi is free to do with it whatever she
will.” Kitrosser added that any disagreement with Trump’s speech is protected
by the First Amendment “and in Pelosi’s case, under the speech and debate
    clause of the Constitution.”

Pelosi's copy of the shitty address was hers to do with as she pleased, scooter.
It was not an official government document, scooter. There was no expectation or
requirement that she hand it over to NARA, scooter — which is why you can't cite
a source for that bullshit claim. This is settled.

First of all, it?s an official document. You?re not allowed. It?s illegal
what she did. She broke the law.?

    THE FACTS:

Legal experts say no laws were broken. They said it was not an original
government document, but Pelosi?s copy of the speech.

Steven Aftergood, a records expert at the private Federation of American
Scientists, said: ?Legally, this is a non-issue. Pelosi was expressing
contempt [richly deserved] for the president?s speech, and her views are
constitutionally protected.? He said her torn-up pieces of the speech might
themselves be considered a new record of historical value.

Laurence Tribe, a constitutional law professor at Harvard University, said
Pelosi did not violate 18 U.S. Code Section 2071, the federal law defining
the deliberate destruction of an official record that *has been filed with a*
*court or other government agency* ? a felony punishable by a prison term and
    by forfeiture of office.

Heidi Kitrosser, a law professor at the University of Minnesota, said: ?This
is *not an archival document*. ... This is one of many, many, many copies of
President Trump?s speech and Nancy Pelosi is free to do with it whatever she
will.? Kitrosser added that any disagreement with Trump?s speech is protected
by the First Amendment ?and in Pelosi?s case, under the speech and debate
    clause of the Constitution.?

Pelosi's copy of the shitty address was hers to do with as she pleased, scooter.
It was not an official government document, scooter. There was no expectation or

    that - a copy.

    Swill

No matter what it was still unprofessional.
    That's how liberals work.

No, there is a hardcopy, signed by the President which is presented
    to the
Speaker to insure it is turned over to the National Archives. The
    other hard
copies and the electronic copies are just that.. copies of the signed
    original.

Copies are just copies, the original is unique because there is only
    one of
it as it carries the ACTUAL Presidential signature.

You overlooked the unprofessional part again.

True... but when it comes to Democrats, I'm not sure they even
    understand the concept of respect.

Calling people deplorables and dog faced pony soldiers and telling
them "you ain't" black if you don't vote for Biden IS their concept
    of respect.
