SCOTUS rules that Donald Trump can stay on Colorado ballot
SCOTUS ruled unanimously to keep Trump on Colorado ballot
This ends other efforts to kick him off ballots in Illinois, Maine
“We conclude that States may disqualify persons holding or
attempting to hold state office,” justices wrote in their
ruling. “But States have no power under the Constitution to
enforce Section 3 with respect to federal offices, especially
the Presidency.”
This Supreme Court decision, made a day before Super Tuesday
primaries, ends efforts in other states such as Illinois and
Maine to kick Trump off the ballot.
Trump’s legal team, said. “This victory is not just for President
Trump but for the integrity of our electoral system and the rights
of voters across the country.”
. . .
UNANIMOUS decision - even the 'liberal' justices.
The big point was individual states trying to suppress
FEDERAL candidates they simply don't like.
Trump has never been convicted for "insurrection" (except
by the Soros-suckin' MSM) which should have been a secondary
point. The Court DID say that states have no power to
enforce the 14th relative to federal candidates regardless ;
likely an act of Congress would be required to withhold
an otherwise-qualified federal candidate.
That last quote is of great relevance - this was quickly
headed towards totally destroying the electoral system.
People have only so much confidence as-is ... for states
to use partisan whim to decide which federal candidates
can or cannot be on their ballots would screw the whole
thing. Then we'd be in Deep Shit and the whole "Great
Experiment In Democracy" thing would be OVER (which the
further left, sometimes further right, kinda HOPES for -
each imagining they'd be the new dictators).
