Trump merchandise keeps coming out of China
    May 28, 2021

But the real surprise is contained inside these
caps. The label reads: “Designed in USA.” How
nice! But when I examined the other side of this
    tag, I read: “100% Polyester/One Size Fits
    Most/Made in P.R.C.”

As we previously established P.R.C. is an
abbreviation for People’s Republic of China.
The persons that contracted with China to make
these Trump caps are gambling that Trump
supporters will see the “Designed in USA” and
not bother to examine the flip side of the tag.
And even if they do, these entrepreneurs hope
that Trump’s loyal followers will have no idea
    what P.R.C. means.

Within three days of the Chinese government agreeing
to provide $500 million in loans to an Indonesian theme
park that the Trump Organization has a deal to license
President Donald Trump's name to, the president
stunningly ordered sanctions be rescinded against
    a major Chinese telecom company.

As AFP reported via the South China Morning Post last
week, the developer of that project just outside of
Jakarta had secured the half billion in funding, in
addition to another $500 million from Chinese banks,
72 hours before Trump's Sunday tweet on the Chinese
telecom company ZTE. Trump's family business has a
deal with that developer to include the Trump name on
the resort, which also includes hotels and a golf course.

President Trump's tax records show that China is one of three
foreign countries where he maintains a bank account, The New
    York Times reported Tuesday.

The account is controlled by Trump International Hotels
Management LLC, which paid $188,561 in taxes in China from
2013 to 2015, according to the Times.

In addition to the Chinese account, Trump also has bank
accounts in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The president's
foreign bank accounts are held under corporate names and as
    a result don't appear on the president's
public financial disclosure forms, the Times reported.

And the whole time the president is saying things

    Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump has
cast himself as tough on China and promised
that his trade negotiations with Beijing
    would economically benefit everyday Americans,
even as Trump-owned properties have continued
to contribute to the trade deficit with the
    country he rails about.

Since September of last year, Trump properties
in the US have imported more than eight tons
of goods from China, CNN has learned by
reviewing US customs data compiled by
    ImportGenius, which tracks information
companies are legally bound to provide to US

imports have arrived to decorate his properties
while the President has sought to dress down China.

    https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/philippines-names-4-new-bases-us-forces-amid-98315899

The Philippine government on Monday identified four new
military camps, including some across the sea from Taiwan,
where rotating batches of American forces will be allowed
to be stationed indefinitely despite strong objections
    from China.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s administration announced
in February his approval of an expansion of the U.S.
military presence to four additional Philippine military
bases from the five existing sites under the 2014 Enhanced
Defense Cooperation Agreement between the longtime treaty
    allies.

Marcos said the move would boost the Philippines' coastal
defense. It dovetails with the Biden administration's
efforts to strengthen an arc of military alliances in the
Indo-Pacific to better counter China, including in any
    future confrontation over Taiwan.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/why-xi-wants-trump-to-win/ar-AA1l1FNk

After four years of Joe Biden, China’s leaders
would likely be relieved to have Donald Trump
    back in the White House.

Compared with his predecessor, Biden has
    operated quietly. Trump launched a trade war;
slapped tariffs on Chinese imports; and
infuriated Beijing by referring to the
coronavirus as “the Chinese Virus,” blaming
the Chinese Communist Party for its spread,
and even at times humoring theories that the
party may have played a role in its creation.

But Biden has hit China harder than Trump
ever did. Armed with a more determined
foreign policy, he has inflicted acute damage
on the country’s economy and geopolitical
ambitions, from which China’s leader, Xi
Jinping, has struggled to recover. “A
Biden-led U.S., probably from the Chinese
perspective, looks like a more formidable
challenge,” Scott Kennedy, a senior adviser
at the Center for Strategic and International
Studies in Washington, D.C., told me.

The most telling example is Biden’s
    technology policy. In 2022, his
    administration effectively barred the export
to China of advanced semiconductors and the
    complex equipment required to manufacture
them. The controls will likely set back
China’s hopes of building a competitive
chip industry for years and hamper its
progress in other key tech sectors, such
    as artificial intelligence.

    Biden has revitalized the American-led
global alliance network that had atrophied
under Trump, and has marshaled its power
to counter China. The advanced democracies
in the Group of Seven have displayed an
unusual degree of coordination on Biden’s
watch, agreeing in 2023 to a common approach
to decrease their reliance on the Chinese
economy. Biden has also fostered closer ties
with new partners, especially India, to
compete with Chinese influence in the
    developing world. Biden’s success has
    apparently alarmed a Chinese leadership
fearful of becoming encircled and contained
by a coalition of American allies.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/american-executives-in-limbo-at-chinese-chip-companies-after-u-s-ban-11665912757

American workers hold key positions throughout China’s domestic
chip industry, helping manufacturers develop new chips to catch up
with foreign rivals. Now, those workers are in limbo under new U.S.
export control rules that prohibit U.S. citizens from supporting
    China’s advanced chip development.

The Commerce Department this month imposed export controls
over an array of chips and chip-making technology, marking the U.S.’s
biggest salvo against China’s tech industry so far.

In a rare move that caught the industry off guard, it also sought to
restrict the use of American know-how by barring U.S. persons from
supporting China’s advanced chip development or production without
a license. The department defines U.S. persons to include U.S. citizens, permanent residents, people who live in the U.S., and American
    companies.

Restricting Chinese companies’ access to U.S. talent delivers a direct
blow to the heart of China’s attempt to move up the technology chain,
said Dane Chamorro, a Washington, D.C.-based head of global risk and intelligence at business consulting firm Control Risks.

“The technology is nothing without the people there to make it work,”
    he said.

Trump merchandise keeps coming out of China
    May 28, 2021

EVERYBODY'S merchandise keeps coming out of China, dumb-ass.

    It's a big problem.
Major problem especially for medical supplies and the like.
    China controls us via trade.
They can stop selling to the US any time they want to.
And at some point they will.

It's a weapon as powerfully dangerous to the USA as
a nuke arsenal, but doesn't leave fallout - just a
    bunch of starving 3rd-world slaves.

It's even worse because it will affect the entire country all at once.

And we LET ourselves get into this position.

    Indeed.
Corporate greed and the stupidity of the American public.
It's all a race to please the shareholders and nothing more.
So they make a pair of sneakers in China for a total cost, including shipping for $20.00 including
shipping to the USA and the pair get sold for $250 because the buying public are idiots.
Similar situations exist for other goods made in China.

American (and some Euro) biz people saw the op for
CHEAP manufacturing in China back into the late 60s,
but the politics were bad. So ... they soon sent
Nixon. That when it all started.

The political/defense impetus was to woo China away
from Russia so they might not combine forces against
the west. You are also less likely to attack people
    you are making money from.

What would it cost to make these goods in the USA.
More, obviously, so the profit margin would not be as high and the shareholders not as happy.
The upside is we, the US have total control over the product and while not critical for sneakers,
it is for other manufactured goods.

Marx claimed that capitalism, by it's own logic,
would eventually be its own undoing. Unfortunately
Marxism doesn't work at all .... which leaves us
with the good ole Lords and Serfs paradigm, kinda
the default historical norm. Wait 'till the Woke
try to protest the Lords .......

This is basically what the elite are looking for.
It will be them, the ultra wealthy, and the rest of us poor.
It's happening already as the wealthy are becoming super wealthy
and the rest of us, not so much.

There IS a sort of problem there, esp in a more-integrated
world ... and it's sort of the same problem I mentioned
for replacing most humans with "AI"/robots. "Wealth"
requires BUYERS for whatever products. The more people
that become serfs/peasants/obsolete across the world the
fewer buyers. Larger-scale economies wither away.

As such I'd predict that the 'elite' would be rather local, a
few getting fat, with a small army of enforcers, but within
isolated fiefdoms. Then history really does repeat itself.

Between Biden and Trump, there is no way I would vote for Biden.
I do wish 2 different candidates were running though.

So they make a pair of sneakers in China for a total cost, including shipping for $20.00 including

I seriously doubt it costs $20 to ship a pair of sneakers from China. They ship by the
thousands in containers. I could Fed Ex a pair for less than that. Once again you prove
that you don't know what you're talking about.

    It doesn't.
That's the manufacturing cost as well as the shipping cost.
    Both added together.

If Nike can make AND ship a $200 pair of sneakers for $20, why shouldn't they? Nobody is
twisting the consumer's arm and forcing them to not buy generic products.

The point is giving up control to another country in order to maximize the profits.
    It's very dangerous.

shipping to the USA and the pair get sold for $250 because the buying public are idiots.

    I'm not a Republican voter.
    See above.

You've said you voted for Trump and you support him now.

I have. Twice in fact. But support him?
    Nope.
I'm no MAGA person. It's more of a choice between who is worse.
Another 4 years of Biden and his policies and we may not have a country.

You've been most vociferous in your support for him and your agreement on policy and
principle with several hard right Republicans and libertarians here, all of whom support
Republican candidates and so, presumably, vote for them.

Some policies I support and others I don't.
Trump has more that I support and Biden less.

Similar situations exist for other goods made in China.

Spew your delusions all you want. Self delusion is all you have.

Sounds more like the democrat voters who think Biden is doing a great job as POTUS yet can't
mention a single thing that Biden has done which has made THEIR lives better.

He is doing a great job. He's restored our foreign policy to it's former track, he's not
mucking about with the economy so it's doing well, he's successfully gotten passed and
signed a real infrastructure bill and another that well help return strategic and high
value chip making to the US. Legislation he's gotten passed and signed has stimulated
manufacturing facility investment and manufacturing jobs are rising.

I agree with the Chip Act. That's a huge plus especially since Taiwan's future is unstable.
The infrastructure bill is loaded with pork.
As for foreign policy Biden is a weak, confused disaster who is literally the laughing stock of the
    world.
The only thing Biden has restored is the open checkbook of the US.
    Even Carter wasn't this bad.

Our economic growth is better than most every country and our inflation rate lower. People
are risking prison, violence and death to come to America to make better lives for
themselves. I don't see anybody begging to be let into Russia.

Being better than other countries means nothing.
People are suffering and they remember how good they had it under Trump. Biden's popularity polls show that.
Biden just looks like an idiot spewing that Bidenomics is working shtick.

What would it cost to make these goods in the USA.
More, obviously, so the profit margin would not be as high and the shareholders not as happy.

The profit margin would be fine because the price would go up. The consumer suffers, not
    the Board.

    Nope.

    Yep.

The price can only go so high.
People will only pay so much for a given commodity.
The overall profit will be less though and that's the rub.

I suppose both conditions are true to one degree or another. Still, nobody wants to pay
$400 for shoes that cost $80 to make but the will pay $250 for shoes that cost $20 to
    make.

The upside is we, the US have total control over the product and while not critical for sneakers,
it is for other manufactured goods.

    Like what?

PPE, drugs, electronics, raw materials for solar panels and batteries, the list is endless.

Biden has already been active in creating legislation to turn some of that over to us,
especially chips. We have plenty of raw materials but part of Pax Americana is buying
them from poorer countries, like Chile so they can earn foreign exchange.

We need to become more autonomous and self sufficient.
Depending upon China is very dangerous.

That is Republican policy. Cut taxes for the rich, opportunities for the middle and
    benefits for the poor.

When has a poor person ever created jobs?

Where did I say they did?

    You didn't.
    I did.

You are buying into the old hard line myth.

It's not a myth. Republicans cut taxes for high income earners and have made it easier
for corporations to send jobs overseas thus cutting middle class opportunity.

Both parties favor the high income earners and corporations and toss the middle class a bone here
    and there.
Remove the tax loopholes is my solution.
So for example if a US corporation wants to incorporate in Ireland, they should pay a stiff tariff.

"The election of Trump and spread of his bigotry spraked [sic] unintended effects. One of
these is that white Americans now hear us."

There is no doubt Trump says stupid things but Biden is much worse as he reveals himself to be a
    true racist.

Compare to what the Democrats have done for blacks.
Obama divided the nation, for example.

Republicans did that by their continuous actions against him and vociferous complaining.
They even complained that his jeans were too baggy!

A very stupid comment however respect is earned and dressing like a pig doesn't help.

Biden as a senator backed crime bills that unfairly targeted minorities.

The GOP created just such a bill in the nineties and Clinton signed it. Remember the
    crack vs cocaine sentencing debates?

    html>

The GOP and Clinton did it first.

    A ridiculous bill and unfair.
    Crack = poor people's drug.
    Cocaine = wealthy people's drug.

It's happening already as the wealthy are becoming super wealthy and the rest of us, not so much.

Due mostly to Republican coddling and tax cuts.

    Nope.

    Yep. That's exactly what's happening?

Offshoring and tax loophole coupled with out of control salaries being paid to CEO's, entertainment
and sports figures and so forth.
    Automation is another one.
Hiring 2 people part time instead of one person full time so benefits can be cut.

The average person's wages haven't even kept up with inflation.

Due to offshoring, hidden tax loopholes that the wealthy can take advantage of.
    Example: incorporating in Ireland.
    <https://www.ocorian.com/insights/six-reasons-why-companies-incorporate-ireland>

Yep. Tax loopholes created mostly by Republican Congresses. If you don't think so, bear
in mind that the GOP has exercised more control of Congress over the past thirty years
    than the Dems by far.

They are all corrupt and for the wealthy.
They enter politics as upper middle class and leave as ultra wealthy.
I wonder how many of them have hidden Swiss bank accounts.

I find it amusing that in my lifetime Republican power in government has steadily
increased, but Republicans say American life is steadily getting worse.

I haven't seen it that way.
What I think has gotten much worse is the bickering and partisanship.
This leads to nothing getting done, like we have now.
American life has it's ups and downs. It's always been like that. The best times were probably
after WW2. We are in worse times right now though. I believe the average life expectancy has gone
down. That's not good considering the advances in technology.

If it's the because of Democrats, it must be because Republicans are incompetent and whose
    fault is that?

    It's both of them.

There are any number of Republicans I would support for President. I voted for McCain in
a primary. I nearly voted for Romney but my concern about his religion was just enough to
give Obama four more years. Jon Huntsman was another Republican I liked. Trouble is the
GOP keeps putting people like Palin and Trump on their tickets. I'd sooner open a vein
    that vote for that sort.

Palin is an idiot bird brain like Nikki.
McCain I could take or leave.
Romney is a huge phony hypocrite.
Of the recent presidents, I did the best financially overall under Clinton followed by Trump.

    Donald Trump Admits He Received
    Money From China While President
    Jan 11, 2024

Donald Trump admitted he did receive
    money from foreign governments such
as China while he was president, as
his business was providing a "service"
    for them.

Speaking at a Fox News town hall on
    Wednesday night, the former president
    defended himself from accusations
made in a recent report from
    Democrats on the House Oversight
    Committee which accused him of
    accepting payments from foreign
    governments from countries such as
China, Saudi Arabia and Qatar while
    in office.

The report accused Trump of violating
    the U.S. Constitution's foreign
    emoluments clause, which prohibits
    federal officials from accepting
    money or gifts from foreign
    governments without permission from
    Congress, after overseas officials
stayed in his real estate company's
    hotels and apartments during his
    time in the White House.

The January 4 report alleged that
    four businesses owned by Trump
    received around $7.8 million from
20 countries during his time in
    office, including at least $5.5
    million from China, during his
    first two years as president.

park that the Trump Organization has a deal to license
President Donald Trump's name to, the president
stunningly ordered sanctions be rescinded against
    a major Chinese telecom company.

As AFP reported via the South China Morning Post last
week, the developer of that project just outside of
Jakarta had secured the half billion in funding, in
addition to another $500 million from Chinese banks,
72 hours before Trump's Sunday tweet on the Chinese
telecom company ZTE. Trump's family business has a
deal with that developer to include the Trump name on

    Donald Trump Admits He Received
    Money From China While President
    Jan 11, 2024

Donald Trump admitted he did receive
    money from foreign governments such
as China while he was president, as
his business was providing a "service"
    for them.

Speaking at a Fox News town hall on
    Wednesday night, the former president
    defended himself from accusations
made in a recent report from
    Democrats on the House Oversight
    Committee which accused him of
    accepting payments from foreign
    governments from countries such as
China, Saudi Arabia and Qatar while
    in office.

The report accused Trump of violating
    the U.S. Constitution's foreign
    emoluments clause, which prohibits
    federal officials from accepting
    money or gifts from foreign
    governments without permission from
    Congress, after overseas officials
stayed in his real estate company's
    hotels and apartments during his
    time in the White House.

The January 4 report alleged that
    four businesses owned by Trump
    received around $7.8 million from
20 countries during his time in
    office, including at least $5.5
    million from China, during his
    first two years as president.

stunningly ordered sanctions be rescinded against
    a major Chinese telecom company.
