Speaking about a special counsel report that cleared him from criminal
charges in his handling of classified documents, President Biden expressed anger that the report said that he forgot when his son Beau died. "How in
the hell dare he raise that?" Biden said of a question posed to him during
an interview during the investigation. In a contentious exchange with reporters, Biden was asked if his memory has gotten worse. "My memory is
    fine," he insisted.

JOE BIDEN: I know there's some attention paid to some language in the
report about my recollection of events. There's even reference that I
don't remember when my son died. How in the hell dare he raise that?
Frankly, when I was asked the question, I thought to myself, wasn't any of their damn business. Let me tell you something. Some of you have
commented. I wear since the day he died, every single day, the rosary he

Every Memorial Day, we hold a service remembering him attended by friends
and family and the people who loved him. I don't need anyone, I don't need anyone to remind me when he passed away of passed away. Simple truth is I
sat for five hours over two days of events going back 40 years. At the
same time, I was managing an international crisis. Their task was to make
a decision about whether to move forward with charges in this case. That's their decision to make. That's the council's decision to make. That's his
job. And they decided not to move forward. For any extraneous commentary
they don't know what they're talking about. It has no place in this
report. The bottom line is the matter is now closed. I'm going to continue
what I've always focused on, my job of being president of the United
States of America. Thank you and I'll take some questions.

    - President Biden, something the special counsel said in his report is
that one of the reasons you were not charged is because, in his
description, you are a well meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.

JOE BIDEN: I'm well meaning, and I'm an elderly man, and I know what the
hell I'm doing. I've been president and I put this country back on its
feet. I don't need his recommendation. It's totally out of--

    - Do you feel your memory has gotten worse, Mr President?

JOE BIDEN: My memory is not-- my memory is fine. My memory-- take a look
at what I've done since I've become president. None of you thought I could
pass any of the things I got passed. How did that happen? You know, I
guess I just forgot what was going on.

It was pretty good - and an obvious ad-lib.

But the press conference as a whole - he DID show
his age, everything was kinda fuzzy.

OTOH ... Trump sometimes makes similar mistakes,
though it's more because he's gotten too revved-up.
Lately it's likely because he has to travel around
    too much between kangaroo courts.

AM worried about his fixations however, and how
    he - 'drifts' ain't right - "abruptly zig-zags"
between those fixations during rallys. Can't
stand to listen to him for more than ten minutes.
He DOES have the Better Plan For America ...
"MAGA" is the best approach by far. DeSantis
and Haley are also MAGA, but they cannot create
a personality cult anywhere near as well as Trump.

Trump does have one, oft-overlooked, distinction
from all the rest - he's "genuine", not a front
for anyone's hidden political agendas, not the
typical product of the "DC System". Love him or
hate him, that IS unique these days.

But the Dems ARE gonna get him. They'll wait until
a few days before the election to convict him of
some felony or whatever. With so many kangaroo
courts they can take their pick. Doesn't matter
if it's overturned a year or two later, the damage
is done, the strategy is successful.

Can the GOP maneuver around that - get EVERYBODY
behind an alternate, maybe write-in, candidate ?
Haley has the broadest appeal and name-rec.
'Revenge' for Trump's persecution is how you get
even his voters to turn out en-masse. The GOP
badly needs the skill at strategy and cohesion
which has been so successful for the Dems/Left.
Otherwise it WILL be the "Union of American
    Socialist Republics".

"Despite infighting, it's been a surprisingly productive 2 years for Democrats"

The American Rescue Plan in response to COVID-19
    A $1T bipartisan infrastructure bill
The first major gun-safety bill in decades
Building semiconductors at home through the CHIPS Act
    The Inflation Reduction Act
Support for Ukraine's defense against a Russian invasion

None of those involve bills that Biden was responsible for

I don't like Biden one bit, but I gotta admit that's a snappy comeback.

    This one wasn't bad either.

JOE BIDEN: None of you thought I could pass any of the things I got passed.
How did that happen? You know, I guess I just forgot what was going on.

I'll bite, what did Biden get passed?

That doesn't deserve comment but, why not?

"Despite infighting, it's been a surprisingly productive 2 years for Democrats"

The American Rescue Plan in response to COVID-19
    A $1T bipartisan infrastructure bill
The first major gun-safety bill in decades
Building semiconductors at home through the CHIPS Act
    The Inflation Reduction Act
Support for Ukraine's defense against a Russian invasion

None of those involve bills that Biden was responsible for

Good. It is far better to do nothing than do the wrong thing just to look busy.

Americans -- at least rational ones -- expect Congress to work on their
behalf and work together to solve problems.

And sometimes the best solution is to do nothing.. or at least keep
others from doing the wrong thing.

More laws are NOT always the answer.

Your party cares about nothing these days except grabbing more power
for power's sake, a once proud party that actually stood for something.

Republicans can't even get their shit together within their own party,
particularly since Trump took them over.

Good. Shows that Republicans accept different views and invite
    discussion of those views.

Well I'm afraid the general public doesn't see it like that, for
example when it takes your party 15 votes just to elect a new Speaker.

Or when you refuse to pass an immigration bill with more concessions to
your side than you'll EVER get in the future, just to have an issue for
the upcoming election (and on the Orange Pooh-Bah's direct orders).

BTW your assertion that Republicans "accept different views" as opposed
to the other side is preposterous on its own.

It was bullshit stupid and you know it. That's what makes your
continual lying so egregious. You KNOW the House is paralyzed
precisely BECAUSE there are different views in the Republican Caucus,
    not in spite of them.

    How undemocratic of you!

That DEI thing you've been bitching about? The D stands for

Conservatism is not about diversity, it's about conformity.

So you say the Republicans aren't conservative enough for you?

You guys have been telling us for three years that we're about to go
into a recession. Two years ago you went into high gear to INSIST
there would be recession in an election year.

When did I do that? I don't recall insisting a recession was imminent.

Where is our recession? You've been promising one for three years
now and I want to know where it is.

Again, when did I promise a recession? Three years ago the government was giving
money to anyone and everyone, so predicting rampant inflation was a no-brainer.

... the Democrats are signaling that they've heard the electorate
and are trying to figure out who to nominate this summer....

So THAT'S why all this Democrat talk of "civil war."

I only hear Republicans talking about that and they're clearly
fighting one out in Congress. The Dems otoh, are quietly and civilly discussing their options and I'm sure they will act when they have
consensus with minimum spillage of blood.

Uh-huh. We'll see when their convention names their candidates. Will it be the doddering octogenarian, the one with the black pussy, the governor who turned a $97 billion record surplus into a $73 billion deficit in under two years, the governor who sent seniors to die in nursing homes and was accused by his AG of sexually harassing eleven women, or some other luminary?

The GOP, otoh, is so busy slashing at each others with swords, the
floor is knee deep in offal.

... Meanwhile Trump is getting more and more obvious in his
attempts to become, effectively, a king.

I don't think it's funny that the GOP has set new standards for hypocrisy.

    Scout made no such comparison.

Pick nits about the word "comparison" if you like....

    I like. It's indisputable.

    ... Won't change Scout's astonishingly STUPID statement.

    His statement was spot on.

It was bullshit stupid and you know it. That's what makes your
continual lying so egregious. You KNOW the House is paralyzed
precisely BECAUSE there are different views in the Republican
Caucus, not in spite of them.

    How undemocratic of you!

You know, that remark didn't even make sense.

You chastise the Republicans for having divergent views.

Where have I chastised Republicans for having divergent views?

"You KNOW the House is paralyzed precisely BECAUSE there are
different views in the Republican Caucus, not in spite of them."

How is that chastisement? It's an accurate observation. If the
House GOP was operating on majority considerations or consensus, it
    wouldn't be blocking critic legislation.

    But that's not chastisement?

Isn't that hashing out how a democracy is supposed to achieve
    consensus?

Parties are supposed to have their platforms and consensus hashed out
*before* election day, not engage in a display of national infighting
    *after* inauguration day.

Parties should but candidates may not. Not all candidates are
    endorsed by their parties.

Is the sky blue on your world?

    Yes. Yours?

That DEI thing you've been bitching about? The D stands for
    'diversity'.

Conservatism is not about diversity, it's about conformity.

So you say the Republicans aren't conservative enough for you?

No, I'm saying that diversity and "acceptance of others'
opinions" is NOT what the Republican party is about. It is about
    obedience....

    How Democratic of you.

It's not my party and yes, I am democratic but not Democratic as you
keep accusing me of being. Of course one might also say the
Democrats are democratic but the Republicans are not.

Of course not. Republicans are republican.

And do not believe in diversity. One of the most common whines in
    here by Republicans is "DEI".

When diversity supercedes merit, it's not a virtue.

... Or have you not heard that Trump is going to put his daughter
in law and another election denier in charge of the GOP because
election denier Ronna didn't deny it to Trump's satisfaction?

    Wow! So many lies.

Really? Here are two more links verifying my comments.

"Trump has yet to secure the GOP's presidential nomination and just
last week, he and current Chair Ronna McDaniel privately agreed that
no major changes would take place until after South Carolina's Feb.
24 primary. But that didn't stop Trump from announcing Monday on
social media that he wants McDaniel to be replaced by Michael
Whatley, the North Carolina GOP chairman. The new co-chair, Trump
said, should be his daughter-in-law Lara Trump. "
    https://apnews.com/article/republican-national-committee-rnc-trump-ronna-mcdaniel-cb23f0f7f24fa3b3bf83e4bfeb19ae54

    " the national interest Feb. 13, 2024
Trump Taps Election Deniers Lara Trump, Michael Whatley to Lead RNC
"Removing "Romney" from Ronna McDaniel's name wasn't enough
    loyalty."
    https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/election-deniers-lara-trump-michael-whatley-to-lead-rnc-republican-national-committee.html

    Those are endorsements, not appointments.

LOL! And why? As I said, Ronna wasn't loyal enough. ROTFL!

She wasn't successful enough. She has been the butt of criticism since 2020.

"Former President Donald Trump will support North Carolina GOP
Chair Michael Whatley to succeed Ronna McDaniel as the leader of
the Republican National Committee, according to a Republican
    operative familiar with Trump's decision.

"Trump's endorsement of Whatley formally cements his push to see a
change atop the committee after weeks of reports that he had grown
frustrated with McDaniel. "In addition to the Whatley nod, Trump
will also support Lara Trump, the former president's
    daughter-in-law, to serve as the RNC's co-chairwoman....

"The endorsement does not mean that either Whatley or Lara Trump
will automatically be given those posts...."

    https://www.politico.com/news/2024/02/12/trump-republican-national-committee-chair-whatley-00141061

Trump's tolerance of McDaniel is probably the reason she hasn't
been booted before now. She should have been fired after 2020, and
her position after 2022 was a mystery.

    SO STOP LYING TO US.

ago pace by 1.7%. Mortgage rates tumbled from late October through mid-January, propelling sales as shoppers capitalized on lower costs.

"Pending home sales, which are based on contract signings, an earlier stage in the sales process that tend to lead existing home sales by a month or two, saw a
big pop in December and grew over the prior year for the first time since May 2021. Despite the pickup, both pending and existing home sales remain historically low, coming off the heels of 2023, which saw the lowest total home sales tally in nearly 30 years as high costs stemming from high prices and mortgage rates continue to remain a challenge for many shoppers...."

You guys have been telling us for three years that we're about to go
into a recession. Two years ago you went into high gear to INSIST
there would be recession in an election year.

When did I do that? I don't recall insisting a recession was
    imminent.

I didn't say YOU. I said "you guys" meaning Republicans....

"... you went into high gear ..."

You assume I'm a Republican because I don't trust Democrats and their ilk.

... Don't lie again and tell me you didn't notice all the posts by rightists and articles by right wing hacks complaining Biden's economy is about to crash?

I subscribe to talk.politics.guns. I skip most posts to the group that are off-topic. But you never know, Biden's economy may be about to crash.

Where is our recession? You've been promising one for three years
now and I want to know where it is.

Again, when did I promise a recession?

I was speaking rhetorically. I guess it was too much to expect your
language skills were sharp enough to catch that.

You were writing sloppily. Is it too much to hope that your writing skills improve?

Three years ago the government was giving money to anyone and everyone, so >> predicting rampant inflation was a no-brainer.

But we aren't talking about inflation are we? We're talking about
    recession.

But if you want to change the subject . . .

It's nice to see a Trump fan ...

    Who would that be?

... admit the inflation was due to Covid stimulus, not by any economy destroying policies of the Biden White House.

It was due to Congress spending money (debt) like a drunken sailor in an election year.

... the Democrats are signaling that they've heard the electorate
and are trying to figure out who to nominate this summer....

So THAT'S why all this Democrat talk of "civil war."

I haven't heard that, but then, I don't pay that much attention to
Democrats. I've only heard that the whispers are getting louder.

I only hear Republicans talking about that and they're clearly
fighting one out in Congress. The Dems otoh, are quietly and
civilly discussing their options and I'm sure they will act when
they have consensus with minimum spillage of blood.

Uh-huh. We'll see when their convention names their candidates. Will
it be the doddering octogenarian, the one with the black pussy, the
governor who turned a $97 billion record surplus into a $73 billion
deficit in under two years, the governor who sent seniors to die in
nursing homes and was accused by his AG of sexually harassing eleven
    women, or some other luminary?

Any of those would be a better choice than Trump.

    Your TDS is showing.

The GOP, otoh, is so busy slashing at each others with swords, the
floor is knee deep in offal.

... Meanwhile Trump is getting more and more obvious in his
attempts to become, effectively, a king.

    days than a Trump fan.

I don't know any, so I'll just take your word for it.

    He's a Democrat.

And he's doing one HELL of a job, dontcha think? 30,000 Chinese young males entered the San Diego sector last month alone.

I don't think it's funny that the GOP wants to shred the
    Constitution.

You guys crack me up. Of which party is the POTUS who keeps trying
