President Joe Biden blamed Iran-backed groups for the attack
on a US base in northeast Jordan and has vowed reprisals.
Three United States service members were killed and "many"
wounded in a drone attack overnight on US forces stationed
in northeastern Jordan near the Syrian border, US Central
Command said.
President Joe Biden on Sunday blamed Iran-backed groups
for the attack and has vowed reprisals.
"While we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we
know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant
groups operating in Syria and Iraq," Biden said in a statement
released by the White House.
The US Central Command said at least 25 service members
were wounded, but the number might rise.
Two different officials told the Reuters news agency that
some wounded soldiers were medically evacuated from the
base for further treatment.
. . .
Big celebration in Tehran tonight I'd bet ...
Alas, politically, it's to Joe's ADVANTAGE for this
war to escalate and spread. The old "Don't Change
Horses" political logic can be brought to bear.
Seems that with each outgoing president someone says
they will start something big to justify keeping power.
Heard it about Bush, Clinton, Obama, Trump and now we
will hear it again. However this time Joe's people are
in a very good position to DO just that and appear
innocent in the process.
Trump MAY be in a position to counter the "Horses"
trick. He can promise to immediately re-instate
some of his previous cabinet people, especially
defense-related. They'd have to be "acting" for a
brief time but the crisis would speed re-confirmation.
Can't do any WORSE than Joe's people ...
(Why do I often use foreign news sources for US events ?
It's because they don't entirely "get" US culture and
politics. Ergo you are more likely to get "just the
facts" without the usual US domestic political spin)
