as a female – was caged in 2013.

Green was locked up in a female prison, where she has since

with two accomplices before brutally murdering him.

The sick killing was preceded by hours of horrific torture after
the trio tied him up.

A rolling pin was also used to sexually assault Shankland and
footprints were found on his neck.

Since being banged up at Cornton Vale women’s jail in Stirling,
Scotland, for a minimum of 18 years, Green has repeatedly
brought female prisoners back to her cell for sex.

She was eventually moved in a bid to stop the steamy sessions.

Shankland’s family are now at the helm of a furious backlash
after finding out Green is to receive taxpayer-funded gender
reassignment surgery.

His sister Pauline Bell, 46, said: “She should not be getting
the operation on the NHS. It’s not lifesaving treatment. She
took somebody’s life away and destroyed a family.

“She destroyed my mum’s life and now she is being given this
treatment so she can feel better?

“The Prison Service says it’s about human rights – but she took
away someone’s human rights in the worst possible way. I’ve got
absolute sympathy for transgender people. Let them have the
operation. But not her.”

Green confirmed the operation in a letter sent to the Mail on
Sunday however.

She wrote: “I am having the op, and pretty soon. The letter has
went out to the surgeon asking him to take on my case.”

Shankland’s mother Mary, 74, was full of rage after hearing
about the planned surgery, claiming she was getting preferential
treatment.

She said: “Green doesn’t know the meaning of the word remorse.

“She shouldn’t get the operation, especially when so many people
need vital treatment on the NHS – and they’re not getting it.
But the authorities are jumping through hoops for her.”

A former prisoner said Green had made a name for herself for
bedding female prisoners.

He said: “He didn’t seem to be acting much like a woman to me.”

Should the op get the go-ahead, Green will be transported to
England under armed guard.
