Video of Nikki Haley from 2010
Shows Her Describing Civil War
as ‘Tradition Vs. Change’
A 2010 video of Nikki Haley has
resurfaced amid fallout from the
former South Carolina governor
not citing slavery as a cause of
the Civil War at a New Hampshire
town hall.
Haley was asked the very same
question about the cause of the
Civil War in 2010. She described
the conflict as "tradition versus
change."
"I think you had one side of
the Civil War that was fighting
for tradition, and I think you
had another side of the Civil
War that was fighting for change.
At the end of the day, what I
think we need to remember is that,
you know, everyone is supposed to
have their rights, everyone is
supposed to be free, everyone's
supposed to have the same freedoms
as everyone else so I think it was
tradition versus change. That's
the way I see it."
