Ok ..."offshore wind" isn't necessarily a "disaster"

    But there ARE issues.

Eval carefully - case by case.

Most of the drilling platforms are supported by long legs extending to
the seafloor. The deepest ones where long legs are not a viable option
are anchored in place like ships.

Continuous propulsion to keep the drilling rig in place, as you
suggested, is not a sensible option, because the rig has to keep
spinning to go against the changing direction of ocean current. It is impossible to remain exactly at the same spot this way.

This is the 21st century, you ignorant bitch! The 20th is old school tech.

"Floating platforms are used for drilling in deeper waters, including water depths of
10,000 feet or greater. These self-propelled vessels are attached to the ocean floor by
large cables and anchors. After wells have been drilled from these platforms, production
equipment is lowered to the ocean floor." <https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/oil-and-petroleum-products/offshore-oil-and-gas-in-depth.php>

That said, is Alleycat saying we should stop drilling for oil in the sea because of it's
    environmental hazards?
