The first act of the interim Speaker of the House of Representatives
was to order Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to vacate her hideaway
office that she had refused to leave under the former speaker.
Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy of California was ousted as speaker
on Tuesday after several Republicans joined with Democrats to push
him out. Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) assumed the speakership
temporarily and issued the order against Pelosi hours later.
“Please vacate the space tomorrow, the room will be re-keyed,” read
the email to Pelosi, according to Politico. The email indicated that
the office would be used for "speaker office use."
