It was LESS than "nothing new". I've been going through hurricanes in Florida since 1965, and Idalia, was a VERY VERY weak-ass libhercane.
These hurricanes lately have soooo short-lived, that they fizzle out in minutes, not hours. Plus, it's the storm surge and rain, NOT the wind, which does all the damage.
Even small Tropical Depression, especially at high tide, can have high storm surges.
Storm surges do NOT "measure" a hurricane's strength, like the screaming me-mes THINK they do.
