• Burger King: "Women belong in the kitchen"

From Big Bad Bob@21:1/5 to All on Tue Mar 9 12:36:17 2021
    https://www.foxnews.com/food-drink/burger-king-apologizes-women-belong-kitchen

"To celebrate International Women’s Day, Burger King U.K. announced a
new scholarship program designed specifically to help female Burger King employees pursue their culinary careers. As the fast-food chain
explained, only 20% of chefs are women, which is something they were
hoping to change. Unfortunately, the way they announced the program —
with a tweet reading 'Women belong in the kitchen' — didn’t sit well
    with many social media users."

    This is just too funny.

Of course, what _I_ believe the Burger King reps MEANT to say, is that
they want MORE WOMEN working in THEIR kitchens, and they used a somewhat shocking and ironic statement to draw attention to that in a memorable way.

And I agree with them wanting to hire more women. Women generally make
good employees, and are less likely to rage-quit or demand excessive
salaries. They tend to show up on time and act responsibly (as compared
to younger men, let's say), and in the fast food industry of
low-and-no-skilled employees, they most likely make the work environment
    MORE productive.

But yeah, unless you're a manager, it's not a really well-paying career, cooking burgers and fries. Actually, chef-work is generally a bit UNDER
paid compared to other careers. But business is what it is, and
restaurants would go OUT of business if chefs were paid higher...
because at THAT point, people just cook for THEMSELVES more.

That being said, in the world of retail, working fast food is a GREAT
stepping stone to a better career path when you are a low-experience
employee, perhaps at a grocery store, or at a regular restaurant, in management, procurement, etc..

Conclusion: It takes a SOUR-PUSSED LIB-TARD with NO sense of humor to
    *RUIN* *EVERYTHING*.

I could use a WHOPPER about now... a Double Whopper with CHEESE!!!

I strongly recommend you to go outside, enjoy the nature because
spending too much time online definitely doesn't do well for your mental

and let's face it, there's sod all on the McD menu to get excited about!

But most of all I miss Wimpy.

Really good burgers, cooked to order, not left in a warmer under a heat
lamp for half an hour, with real chips (fries if you must) not bits of
potato 'string', all served by a waiter or waitress at your table on a
    real plate.

Y'know, Wimpy was the first ever burger chain in the UK !

They opened up in London in 1957, once upon a time you couldn't walk
down the high street of any town in the UK without seeing a Wimpy !

Now there's only about sixty left in the entire country and they're not
a patch on the old Wimpy restaurants.

Since the South African company bought them out and they went global
things have gone right down the crapper, nowadays it's all polystyrene
boxes and 'let's copy all the crap the other fast food outlets are
doing', you know, 'special sauce' and pickles and unbelievably they're
using un-toasted buns covered with damn Sesame Seeds !

    I don't know...

    Progress eh ?

That's good to know but unfortunately it's a long way to go from my house.

I've given up on the big chain fast food outlets and I have a small list
of local cafe's who know how to cook a good burger, so I'm managing to
    survive.
