  • SG-1 P90 demo - weapon of war vs weapon of terror

    In the above video, a scene from Stargate SG-1, a group of warriors that
    yhad been enslaved by the enemy "Goauld" (spelling?) called the "Jaffa"
    had broken away and were joining the earth in the war against the Goauld
    who had enslaved earth people in the past.

    Until a demonstration, the Jaffa had a hard time believing that
    "primitive" earth weapons were better than their "staff weapons". The demonstration proved otherwise.

    The main thrust: That the high tech weapons were flashier and made
    louder noises, and basically INTIMIDATE the enemy. On the other hand,
    the earth weapons simply KILL the enemy.

    This now goes back to what Putin seems to be doing in Ukraine... he's
    trying to TERRORIZE them into SURRENDERING, like he's Ivan the Terrible
    or something.

    If he were running a war with an objective and a plan, Putin would only
    need to focus on military targets, AND NOT CIVILIANS. No need for the
    largest conventional bomb to SHOCK AND AWE your enemy into cowering in
    fear or something equally idiotic...

    But, if your end is to INTIMIDATE and CONQUOR and "make them surrender",
    you TERRORIZE people into submission and DO the "shock and awe" thing to CIVILIANS, almost like a Roman siege. Or, Ivan the Terrible.

    At least, this approach *could* (maybe) work with a group of people who
    do NOT understand what it is TO BE FREE. Apparently, Ukranians DO know
    very well what freedom is like! So all it's going to do is CONTINUE to frustrate Vlad the Putinator's RIDICULOUS DELUSIONS of CONQUEST.


    Vlad the Putinator just doesn't get it. He's living in a communist
    past. "Hey Putinator, 1980 called and they want their Soviet style
    BULLSHIT back!" Or maybe he thinks he's Ivan the Terrible!
