If you're too far away from your vehicle to use the key fob, you can use
your head like an antennae to further the reach by placing it under your
chin and hitting the buttons. This actualy works, try it.

It works for things like tv remotes, too. Pretty much anything that
broadcasts radio. It works because the skull acts like a dish -- it has
    roughly the right shape internally.

So, do I have to move my tinfoil hat to the back of my head and aim with
    my chin ?

Or is it necessary to remove it completely ?

Sorry, that came out sounding really snotty, it wasn't meant to, I was
just trying to make you smile, I'll try harder.

Witticisms aside, a properly-molded tinfoil hat would probably improve the signal. But if that was your aim, you might as well just use an actual broadcast antenna. (Former radar tech here.)

How can you do what's right if you don't know what's right?

Given my shnozzle maybe a nasal mounted yagi would be a better option
    for me :)

I once improvised a 10Ghz 'dish' from a galvanised dustbin lid, not
perfect but a good 'hack' all the same.
