    If so, it'd be close (as they say in "Red River")--both films were released in July 1960 according to IMDb. Whereas the ripoff of "Fellini Satyricon", plain old "Satyricon", beat Fellini by several months--March/September 1969...

    Per Wikipedia Beyond The Time Barrier was released September 1960 and The Time Machine was released August 17, 1960.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyond_the_Time_Barrier https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Time_Machine_(1960_film)

    "A good way to bring in audiences for your low budget film is to time its release with that of a prestige film with a similar theme, this was the case with Edgar G. Ulmer Beyond the Time Barrier, a film that was quickly made and rushed into theatres to
    exploit the success of George Pal’s much more lavish The Time Machine. Obviously, one of those films has remained a classic of the genre while the other has been pretty much lost in time, but that is not to say that Ulmer’s film was without merit."

    Interesting--the 50s started that way too, in sf movies. The "B" imitation of the "A" 'Destination Moon"--"Rocketship X-M"--I believe got to the starting gate first.

    James Altgens married Clara Bell Halliburton in July 1944. One may wonder if she was related to the Halliburton known for the allegations regarding LBJ Halliburton and Vietnam.

    Who put James in Dealey Plaza to get pictures of the kill shot?
    <altgens to trask quote>
    "[T]o have a President shot to death right in front of you," Altgens continued, "and keep your cool and do what you're supposed to do—I'm not real sure that the most seasoned photographers would be able to do it." Still, he said, "there is no excuse
    for this. I should have made the picture that I was set up to make. And I didn't do it."
