    I'm surprised that the oldest message available in windows3 dates from
    2004. They don't have an archive of what was written around 1990?

    This is up to your nntp server.

    The problem with "nntp server" archives are legion. Too many to list.
    We all know those problems. Retention. Money. Setup. Complexity. Etc.

    Luckily, there are web-searchable Usenet archives which obviate most
    (if not all) of the well-known problems with "nntp server" archives.

    The advantage of the web searchable Usenet archives is that anyone can not
    only search them without having to know how to set up a newsreader, but
    they can refer to any thread or article by a link that anyone else can.

    To that end, long ago I worked with Google & recently with Nova to set
    these up, because I'm always about making computers easier for everyone.

    Including our own aunts and moms (who know nothing about Usenet per se).
