I have my Windows 10 boix set to use the classic version of Task Manager, ie. Windows 7 style.
I have come across a case for which the new Windows 10 Task Manager may be better suited.
Is it possible to switch from the classic to the new Task Manager and back again ?
I just tried hitting the Windows key and typing
taskmgr{Enter}
That brings it up.
Of course, that assumes your setup didn't just overwrite the new Task
Manager with the old. If it did, then you'll need to restore the new
(Windows 10) one. "sfc /scannow" might do that.
Hmm, whether I hit Win+R to get the dialog to run "taskmgr", or instead right-click on the taskbar to select Task Manager from the context menu,
I get the same default Task Manager that is bundled in Windows.

I use WinAero Tweaker in Windows 10. One of its settings is to change
to the classic Task Manager, but all that shows is an info page with a
link to the above web page.
Since the web page has link to download the classic app for Task
Manager, getting back to the default one has you uninstall the classic
one.
There are other choices for Task Manager, too. I use SysInternals'
(acquired by Microsoft) Process Explorer quite often. It has an option
to replace the default Task Manager. To get back, just load Process
Explorer, and deselect the setting. Another of its features is to
submit hashes of processes to VirusTotal, and display the results of the
scan to determine if a process might be considered malicious. The
VirusTotal column, when selected to show, in Process Explorer shows the
scan results at VirusTotal. However, if the hash on the process matches
that for a prior scan, the results from the prior scan are shown (to
reduce the load on the VirusTotal web site). You can elect to resubmit
for a rescan, and wait for the results.

Just because the VirusTotal score might not be zero, like 1/78 (1 out of
78 scanners say the submission is suspect), doesn't mean the process is
bad. VirusTotal includes some not-so-reliable AV scanners. You can
click on the VirusTotal rank in Process Explorer to open a web page
showing the scan results. For example, I got 1/78 for Clipmate which
I've used for many years. The false positive was from Zillya (Ukraine).
Never ever hear of the Zillya anti-malware product. That AV claims
Clipmate might be infected with Trojan.Rhadamanthys.Win32.6. False
positives aren't new. AV signatures have always had false positives
since the entire file is not hashed, and hashes are NOT unique
(different byte sets can produce the same hash). VirusTotal uses
signatures in the AVs as it obviously doesn't run the suspect software
to watch for heuristics that evidence the effects of malware.
Another I remember looking at, but decided not to use, was Process
Hacker. I suspect Process Explorer is more robust, or more to my taste.

From
https://github.com/winsiderss/systeminformer/issues/452, apparently Process Hacker also has an option to have it replace Task Manager.
I also remember trialing Process Lasso for awhile. It had features that
task managers rarely have: Pro Balance, performance modes, power saving
modes triggered when specified apps are running, watchdog rules, etc.
While I played with many settings, I didn't find any that made a
remarkable difference in the responsiveness of my desktop PC. Maybe
lower-end computers might benefit from the automatic and manual tweaks.
