    Hello,

What are the best BRD software players in W10 & macOS v10.14.6? I tried
to do it for free with VLC MP, but geez it was complex and difficult. I
had it working once for Avatar 1 movie BRD and wasn't impressed. And
now, it doesn't work again. I read that I have to keep stuff updated.
Too much work and don't have time to play with it again like last time.
I just want a simple BRD player that can play USA's BRDs with menu
access too in my computers. I don't mind playing for the software
    player (no subscriptions please).

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

"I want a pony. I want a pony with four legs, not like all the three-legged ponies for sale."

It really is pathetic, when you start reading some of the limitations
of the softwares. For example, there is a "free" <cough> player, but
you "need an account" to use it. How about a leg shackle while they are at it ?

    https://www.cyberlink.com/blog/media-player-windows/431/blu-ray-dvd-player-software

Blu Ray media seems to have computer language and executable content on it.
I have seen references to Java being part of it. Who knows how the
Menu System is wired together. VLC apparently cannot access menus.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BD-J

    *******

Back in the day, we used to look for "bundles" with a hardware drive.

I didn't see too many bundles on offer at Newegg (by searching for bundle),
so I had to look for manufacturer web pages.

Asus claims to have a bundle for their external player. But like usual
with these bozos, they refused to provide an itemized list of what
is included. (Years ago, it was so hard to determine what was on a bundle
disc, I actually had to drive to the fucking store and read the side of
the box!!! Teh Internetz did not know the box contents. And i was really surprised it would be written on the box!)

Here, Paul uses a review, to get the necessary information.

    https://topnewreview.com/asus-bw-12d1s-u-external-drive/

"a suite of CyberLink goodies, which comprise

    Power2Go 8 \___ Vid stuff
PowerDVD 10 with Magic Cinema /
    PowerBackup 2.5 \___ Burn cruft
    InstantBurn 5 /
    "

So then an aspiring customer would run off and try and find
a review for those vid items :-)

Really, nothing has changed over the years. The situation
was just as opaque fifteen years ago.

It is further saddled with rumors of this and that. It was
claimed that certain Intel processors have their "secure enclave"
(don't remember the name) pinned off, and as a result, it
was claimed that BD 4K resolution would not play, unless there
was an enclave for the software to use as handcuffs. Whether any
of these software, you'll buy them and a notice will say
"yer processor stinks", I don't know.

The Magic Cinema above, is just a 3D playback feature, so
what you want to review is "PowerDVD 10" to see what it can play.
There are apparently an amazing number of CODECs some of these
products, cannot play. I don't know if AVCHD is the native
format, or one of the other formats is the "common one".

    Good luck (really!),

    Paul

Software to play a BRD in your external BRD disc drive?
Software to play a BRD in a downloaded BRD file(i.e not disc in an
    external drive)?
Software to stream to your pc a BRD version of an online source provided
    and stored file?

Are you curently getting the same exact problems on both devices(Win10
    and macOS)?
Were you using the same software program on Win10 and macOS?

In all my years of using Windows...the question of playing BRD has not
come up very often. All I can add at this point, not knowing to the
answers to the above questions so I can ask other colleagues/experts in
the media field, is the most common I've heard people using is Power DVD.

Not recommending PowerDVD, b/c I/we have a BRD compatible player
    connected to the smart TV.

A quick check shows 3 different PowerDVD versions
    Free, Standard, and Ultra
=> The latter two at this time are available for the same lifetime(no subscription) cost. ~$60 U.S.

Discs in both internal and external BRD drives.

Are you curently getting the same exact problems on both devices(Win10

Yes, the encrypted discs. VLC MP keeps complaining about AACS and other stuff.

Were you using the same software program on Win10 and macOS?

    Yes, VLC MP.
