    Did you look at the third option using group policy editor?

    I don't remember how I got rid of "News and Interests" but I've gotten rid
    of _everything_ I don't want in my taskbar and it's certainly not there.

    So my advice to the OP is that it's _certainly_ possible to wipe it out.

    Here's a screenshot of my taskbar I took for another thread earlier today
    on using the Windows keyboard to message on Android - where I don't even
    know what the "news and interests" should look like - but it's not there.

    <https://i.postimg.cc/pr13NYWW/android-on-windows.jpg>

    Note my philosophy is the taskbar should not take up valuable real estate (which is why it's on the side) and that the taskbar should contain only
    what's needed (which is why the pullout menu is there to access all apps).

    The other thing that comes to mind is occasionally things can get
    "fixed" if you change to the setting you don't want, restart and then
    change them to what you do want. Forcing it to change back and forth
    seems to awaken something.

    And thats why you don't see it, News & Information option is only
    available if the taskbar location is set to bottom of screen.

    Holy cow! Really?

    I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but if _that_ is the reason, it's
    amazing since the only reason I put the taskbar to the side is that most screens are challenged in the up:down direction, and less so side:side.

    Here is that screenshot again, where the "menu" is a complete pullout just
    like the WinXP days, where the cascade menu never left Windows (ever).
    <https://i.postimg.cc/pr13NYWW/android-on-windows.jpg>

    Given the menu is to the side, maybe that's why "News & Info" isn't there.

    Even so, I've explicitly turned off stuff, one by one, such as the Cortana search, and the Start Menu, Notifications, even the time:date is modified.

    Notice for example, my time:date is in the format of the day of the week,
    the month, the day of the month, and then the time in AM/PM irrespective of
    the system clock (since my tzone changes randomly every few hours or so).

    In summary, my taskbar was optimized for efficiency, where I didn't know
    why "News & Information" wasn't there, but thanks to you, now I know why.

    Not joking, try it temporarily. I only found out by accident.

    I run 2 widescreen monitors in Extended Desktop mode with both taskbars
    set to right side and had never seen News & Information.

    advice in this newsgroup the last time the topic came up.
