Pared to:

Actually the OS is irrelevant, so I could've pared down to just:

Is there such a thing as a computer keyboard with metal keys? I' am
looking for a parrot proof keyboard as mine pulls off the plastic
ones and chews them.
When you are at the keyboard, you are using it, not the parrot. Only
need to keep the keyboard protected when you are away, or you could cage
the bird. Some solutions:
- Get a hard plastic guard to lay atop the keyboard.
- Get some plexy at the hardware store, use a heat gunto bend one edge
on which you use self-stick velcro to affix to the keyboard.
- There are keyboard trays (to elevate the keyboard if you place atop)
into which you can slide the keyboard for storage.
- There are keyboard drawers that slide under the desk.
- There are monitor/laptop stands under which you could slide the
keyboard making it unreachable to the parrot.
- Lay a blanket atop or around the keyboard.
- Flip the keyboard upside down.
- Put the bird in the cage, and clean up the poop before you leave.
Warn your friends before they come over that you let your birds "go" everywhere in your residence.
