• Locked Out Of Changing Boot Menu - Can't Change To Boot With CD

From bud@invalid.com@21:1/5 to All on Sun Dec 13 20:07:33 2020
I just had my Windows XP Pro reinstalled because of years of problems
which rendered my XP a mess. During reinstalling my programs, I find
I can get into the Boot Menu (F12), but neither my keyboard nor mouse
will allow changing from the Hard Disk Boot to the ability to boot
from a CD. There is no movement of either. That means for one thing,
I cannot use a Repair Disk (Recovery) disk in the future.

The version of Win XP reinstalled was from my
original-bought-and-paid-for-CD. In other words, a legitimate XP
copy. The machine is the same one that this copy of Win 7 came with.
And it always before was set to boot from a CD.

Anyone have any idea about this?

Yes, I did try the + and - keys.

    They don't do anything either.

Are the keyboard and mouse USB devices? Give it a try with the old
fashioned ones with round PS/2 connectors.

I had to go through the Advanced Bios Setup.
