    I should have mentioned that the only reason he's able to connect to me is that my system is one of few left that can accept a dial-up connection. BinkleyTerm under OS/2 (my BBS system front end) has a lot of neat tricks up it sleeve combined with VModem for OS/2.

    Windows 10 32 bit in a VM would do the trick.
