    Necrothread! Ha!

I used mTCP in the past and having dusted off my 486 I'm using mTCP now. I was poking around the mTCP website today and saw that there was an updated version (as of March 2020) so I'm giving that a whirl right now. Seems to work better (i.e. no dropped or garbled ansi etc) than the 2015 version.

Only two "issues" I'm having with it now, and they are by design, is that there is no backspace (so you have to arrow left then delete) and page up and page down are capture by mTCP for use with the Telent virtual page buffer. So I can't use Enigma's groovy page up/down features.

    Cheers,
    Doug

One other thing to be aware of: mTCP's Telnet has a limited CSR buffer space (think of a fixed array) so if you have too many MCI code's on a single screen it can cause a hang. I hope to get rid of the CSR requirement completely in the not too distant future which will fix this and also allow older clients that don't support them at all

Good stuff! I prefer to use old terminal programs designed for modems with a wifi telnet gizmo anyway. Sometimes I use Netrunner on a Win10 laptop. But most of the time I like to pretend it's about 1994 and I'm dialing in.

Indeed that is an annoyance which I have discussed with Michael Brutman. He
is a busy chappy but he says he is working on an update this year that will allow you to set your own preferences. NB Have you noticed you can update
your preferences (per session) by using Alt-B and Alt-N (for backspace and newline respectively)?. I didn't work that out for a while.

I also note the behaviour differences when moving between systems. For
example, if I telnet into my raspberrypi and then telnet to a bbs from there, BS and CR work correctly, without even having to change the settings.

    Cheers,
    Al

No I didn't know that. Will have to try. These days I've been focusing on a 286 and not using mTCP. But I will get back to it eventually. Due to limited space (self-imposed lol) I rotate through which retro machines I'm currently using. Sorry for the late reply by the way.
