It's not great, coverage starts tonight at midnight my time and runs until about 2.30am... assuming it all happens and runs according to plans :)

But at least it's not happening while I am at work.

It looks like my late night is getting later, I thought it was a midnight launch for me but it looks to be a 1am start :)

Yeah he's just hoping it doesn't go bang on the launch pad, but I do think the chances are rather high it will go bang at some stage, but hopefully not too early in the 2.5 hours of the test.

Big bada boom! I haven't really read anything about it yet, because the first round of articles seem to be heavy on speculation and light on facts, but
there seemed to be an abnormally high number of engines that weren't actually running, based on how the 'ring' looked.

From the video and reports I've seen they had some engines decide to not
work. The thing left a big whole in the launchpad, and concreate was seen flying around... Bet some of that went up into the rocket making a few dints into the plumbing.

At least it got off the pad and went up for some time before it went kaboom.

So it was really a great test for a first go.

I read they have a couple of options.

    1. Flame trench.
    2. More water to supress things.

They have nothing much of either at this stage.

Did they have any water suppression? Not sure if they did.

I think there proximity to the tank farm is also in question when you see the damage the flying concrete etc. did to some of those tanks too.

Seems (in hindsight) strange they thought the most powerful blast off could be handled by the config on the ground they put in place.

I agree, it's a mess and I'd be suprised if it's seen to be a quick fix. I think they had some metal plates they planned to install below the launch mount but had ran out of time. Flame diversion will be key to getting this sorted.

They should have got that done. It might have saved the launch pad from so
much damage... But when you look at it, they didn't expect it to even get
off the pad, so it was a huge win but at the same time a fail.
