• Fidopoll issue

From cozmo@21:1/172 to All on Thu Feb 11 10:35:38 2021
    When I Fidopoll 21:3/100 I get this:
    FIDOPOLL Version 1.12 A46 2020/08/26

Looking up address "21:3/100" in nodelist
    ---
    Scanning 21:3/100
    Queued 0 files (0 bytes) to 21:3/100
    Polling DIRECTORY node 21:3/100
    Move \hiberfil.sys to c:\mystic\echomail\in\
    Failed to move to \hiberfil.sys
    Move \pagefile.sys to c:\mystic\echomail\in\
    Failed to move to \pagefile.sys

    Any Ideas?

Quit using Windows ;) Don't use hibernation, paging is OK, but you have some type of disk issue. Are you using an SSD or like flash drive? You can't use the default settings on them - they will hang the whole system. Real spinning drives you can shut the motor off, but you use that bit on an SSD and it shuts the whole drive off for that session. No drive, no OS. It's a Microsoft power settings default that will hang your system. The other possibility is permissions. For some reason it looks like hiberfil.sys & pagefile.sys can't be written or the configuration is really messed up and it's trying to write them to your echomail\in instead of the normal root OS.

I'd use Linux but too much of a learning curve for me. I'm just getting into setting up my BBS and it's hard enough to figure out all this. I figured out what was causing the problem. Some how I had changed my Session Type from
    BinkP to Directory.

OK, then get a good handle on Windows whatever version it is. The newer Windows10 has an Ubuntu/Linux subsystem that does work. Limited graphics
right now, but improving as is the networking. So you could get some handle
on Linux with that and something like MobaXterm. It allows graphical connection to Linux systems including the subsystem that can be added to Windows10. This is likely a better clue for those already playing with it ;)
Hope Windows10 is stable for you, but I've always had issues with it, so I'm typing this via Ubuntu Linux remotely to Mystic BBS on a Pi3. I've had Windows 10 work for as long as 5 years, but no longer - it always kills and
eats itself. It has problems and is unstable compared to Linux. One fix is
to re-install every few years like we used to do with XP. Most Windows since seems to work best that way. So learn how to make backups. That Pi3 is running from an older backup, but it's running now under Mystic A47 02/01/2021 (US date format of MM/SS/YYYY). I've got some handle on the newer mis polling now and have it running in Events finally. Clue: Change old fidopoll to 'mis poll' and that pretty much handles the changes needed.

I think that's your problem. Make sure Session Type is set to BinkP on the first page for that node:

Active Yes 1:GENERAL Description fsxNet Hub (Net 3) 2:Security
    SysOp Name Deon George 3:Groups

Thanks for the response. I did figure it out and that was the problem.
Some how I must have changed that setting. One minute it was working and the next it wasn't. Thanks
