From MeaTLoTioN@21:1/158 to All on Thu Oct 22 15:46:02 2020
Just in case anyone has issues with sending messages from their BBS after upgrading, and didn't know that FIDOPOLL has been removed and replaced with native functionality in the MIS binary, I have come up with a simple script that will allow all your events and scripts to work without changing them...

Just create a file in your /mystic folder called "fidopoll" and the contents should be...

    #!/bin/sh
    ./mis poll $@

Make it executable, by "chmod +x fidopoll" and then it all should just work
    the same.

I haven't yet upgraded myself to this version, but I heard about the change
to fidopoll and thought it may help someone less versed in shell scripting.

I just made the switch to ./mis poll send a few weeks back so I just beat the deadline!

Thanks, mainly for the syntax without having to think about it/figure it out. This, and some other reasons... prompts.dat changing a few lines... I haven't upgraded to 47 yet either. However, learning about marquee.... I want to go ahead and do it. Also, I haven't seen the 132 width thing in action - anyone know what thats all about?

Hey, ML, I just found a cool little hacky workaround for displaying amiga
fonts (microknight or topaz) *and* IBM text at once... like... the ansi
viewer shows my template, in amiga glory, and inside the readable text is in IBM font. it looks pretty cool and just uses |DFFONTFILE| and |DFcodepageswitch| but haven't seen anyone else use them TOGETHER... mystic ansi viewer lends itself well to this sort of work.

It is on my bbs if you wanna see; I know you like amiga fonts.

The syntax for 'mis poll' vs 'fidopoll' are identical, so it shouldn't be too difficult. :)

out. This, and some other reasons... prompts.dat changing a few lines...

If you do your editing through Mystic's prompt editor, it doesn't actually change the prompts.dat file. It creates a prompts.txt file in your theme's directory that has any changes you made. If you haven't physically changed the prompts.dat file, then the upgrade won't affect your changes.

I haven'tupgraded to 47 yet either. However, learning about marquee....

I actually have the marquee running on three different menus here, along with scrollz running on the main menu. I like them both, as they can do different things. ;)

I want to goahead and do it. Also, I haven't seen the 132 width thing in action - anyoneknow what thats all about?

I tried it here using SyncTerm, and it just made all my screens look tiny. I know the message editor was updated, but even that doesn't look right on here. I'm thinking it still needs some more work.

Ok, this is great news.. I do a backup anyway, but sounds like I can go for
    it then...

Yes, I'm digging scrollz since I can change it up a bit - but am interested
in playing with marquee too... :P w00t options.

Or, new art. :P I think that if a system were designed with this in mind, by the ANSi gods of the scene, it would look bad to the bone. I haven't seen it live yet, either tho...

Its an option so I have to install it or not. :/ Hmph.

    Thanks, cheers BP.

Aha thanks Paulie, I have actually played around with the fonts a lot in the recent past, and have a display file with every font available displaying 1 line per font, and also at the bottom, 1 line with mixed fonts.

I can send you the file to look at if you like

I'd actually really dig that, as I only currently use topaz and microknight. So... yea.

What size monitor did you display it on? And did you have to change a setting in SyncTerm? I tried it using netrunner, changed my user mystic settings, and the message editor just wrapped lines, so the header didn't look right. It also still only displayed 80x24
