  • Mystic on Rasberry pi / Resberryen

    Hi All
    im hoping some one can tell me, im running mystic on 64bit windows 10 to use the old door games i have to bugger around with bossbox ect
    so tell me if i run mystic on rasberryen or rasberry pi can i use the old
    door games with out pissing arount with more software to make it work... or will i be just wasting my time trying ... figgered id best ask befor i go installing to find its going to work

    I know little of dos emulators but suffice to say I run Win 32bit so I can avoid this issue. If you want to run Linux or ARM and can't be phaffed trying to get emulators running then a door server is the better way to go. Or just box on and see what you can crack.

    Hi Widgit,

    No, there's no way to run 16 bit programs easily these days unless you're
    using a 32 bit x86 operating system. For what it's worth, if you were to
    google "can I run dos programs on a raspberry pi" you'd get the same info :)

    Get gamesrv, install in a VM like virtual box running windows xp
    telnet to wcalt.rdfig.net:2324 and you can see for yourself.

    Ayup. Two different systems. I run DoorParty, Mark Mearns runs BBS Link.

    What BBS? I just got arcaOS.. my BBS in the 90's ran on OS/2. I ran LORA BBS which I am sure is long gone..

    DoorParty works fine and has been up all week. It does require a bit of setup, which I gather MarisaG has had some trouble with in the past.

    As I indicated on DOVE-Net, I'll try to amend the docs or the newer DoorParty Connector to see if I can make that a bit easier for everyone to work with.

    I dunno why, it might be something on her end that needs doing. I'm still getting a ton of people connecting each day no problem.

    If you can make it easier, that'd be amazing, since it's super easy to setup right now. You've done a kick-ass job of it, man. It's one executable and an .ini file, and the .ini file only needs three things mainly changed to work.

    I've tried to make it as easy as possible by having the .ini created automatically with the sysop's correct info, and detailed instructions in the connect package, but since you made it exceedingly easy already, I just finished up by creating their .ini for them. It's pretty much plug and play right now.

    will door parts work with 64 bit as that seems to be the biggest problim im haveing i did try to install win95 when i setup mystic but again not ethernet drivers so lucked out again

    Ah, okay. I coordinated with her about that last week or so, I thought we got that hammered out.

    I just checked the logs, and it showed you last connected successfully on
    March 8th, and nothing since then. No error messages, so it looks like it's
    on her end.

    I'll resend her the info, it might just be a misconfiguration on her end.

    I replied to you on my BBS. Yep, it works just fine on Windows 10 64bit.

    What BBS? I just got arcaOS.. my BBS in the 90's ran on OS/2. I ran
    LORA BBS which I am sure is long gone..

    I played with Lora, but really never got it going. But when I ran OS/2 I
    ran PCBoard/2 and it ran great.

    I only switched because because dialup callers were decreasing and went with WinServer WildCat to get bbs accessible via telnet.
