• Mystic A43 to A44 upgrade

From bcw142@21:1/145 to All on Fri Feb 14 10:13:12 2020
So after all the instructions in upgrade.txt has anyone got things working again? First /mystic/attach/default (Linux) needs to be made, then Themes fail first thing 'Unable to load a theme'. Not sure how many other 'gotchas' there are, but my Alpha Test is down for now till I figure it out (or put the
    backup back on).

Did you run the 'upgrade' binary? This does all the work for you, I thought.

Haven't had any reports of any problems at all from the upgrades.

You shouldn't have to make any directories. But its hard to say more because
I don't know what steps you've done or what you're trying to do now.

Yes, maybe doesn't work so well in x64 Linux? Right now it's the theme it
can't find. I copied it from a new install and that doesn't work either.
I guess I'll look at the -cfg directories to try and figure that out.

Yup, no idea what I did, but I seem to have to start from scratch and rebuild. I looked at the paths and found theme listed as /mystic/attach ! I changed
that to /mystic/themes and got the default setup working. Seems like upgrade doesn't work for me at all - not sure why, but at least I have a starting point.

It works in Linux/64. Can you give us a step by step of what you're doing? You need to be on A43 of Mystic and follow the steps in order from upgrade.txt.

You shouldn't need to copy anything from a new install and you'll of course need to have ownership rights since you're using Linux so you'll need that or to use SUDO.

    1. Extract Mystic A44 archive to a folder.

    2. Replace existing binaries with the new alpha binaries:
From A44 folder where archive was extracted:

Run "install replace <A43 Mystic directory>
    Example: ./install replace /mystic

    3. Install prompts.dat
From A44 folder where archive was extracted:

Run "install extract prompts.dat <A43 Mystic DATA directory>
    Example: ./install extract prompts.dat /mystic/data

    4. Switch to root Mystic A43 directory and run upgrade.exe

    cd /mystic
    ./upgrade

    5. MPLC and MIDE depending on where you stored it may need to be copied over or
moved from a theme directory. From A44 folder where archive was extracted:

Run "install extract mide <A43 Mystic directory>
Run "install extract mplc <A43 Mystic directory>

    6. Switch to A43 Mystic directory and recompile MPL programs:

    chmod +x mplc
    chmod +x mide
    mplc -t

I just tested a fresh A43 install to A44 via upgrade and it worked fine for me in Linux/64.

I don't know how you have your themes directory set to attach. Upgrade program has a hardcoded themes directory that is set when it runs. If you want to try to figure out where things went wrong let me know.

    Thanks!
