• A44 bug?

    From Black Panther@21:1/186 to G00r00 on Thu Feb 6 22:24:26 2020
    Hi g00r00,

So, I just upgraded fsxnet Hub 4 to the latest release, and noticed a
    possible bug.

When logging on locally, via mystic -l, and typing a message in an echomail area, Mystic isn't creating the echomail.out semaphore file to trigger the events.

    This system is running Win7, and it's Mystic v1.12 A44 Windows/32 Compiled 2020/02/04 22:48:13.

Not a huge issue for me, but it might be for others who log on locally...

Thank you for the great work over the years. It is greatly appreciated. :)

Do you have it configured to create when you log out not when the message is posted? I think that is the default setting.

It is set to create it when the message is posted. I even tried logging off, and then back on, and it still didn't create the semaphore.

Thanks for taking a look at this.

I can't reproduce it. My BBS runs on Linux/64 too and works entirely off of the semaphore/event system so that seems to be working for me. I am sure you checked this but could it be possible the BBS user can't access the semaphore directory that is defined in the configuration? Is it just this semaphore?

This is actually on the Win7/32 hub system.

Nope, it didn't create the echomail.out semaphore file. I just logged out and back in again, and still nothing in the semaphore directory...

I did check, and the permissions are set up correctly...

Maybe it's just my system... :(

I just installed a fresh A44 on Windows XP and its working fine for me. I tested both Logout and as posted types.

Are you using anything that is checking for that semaphore? The first time I tested it on my Linux machine the semaphore was found, processed and removed before I even had a second to list the semaphore directory lol. Is the base type set to Echomail?

Just trying to see what I could do to reproduce this. Although I think if
this were a wide-spread issue its something that everyone would notice immediately.

It's probably something with this system...

Are you using anything that is checking for that semaphore? The first

    Nope, just the Mystic events.

Everything does seem to happen quickly on the Linux systems. :)

lol. Is the base type set to Echomail?

Yes, that was the first (maybe second) thing I checked.

I'm not sure how many people log in locally... Maybe I'll set up the telnet server in MIS, and see if I can reproduce it that way...

Like I said, not a big deal for me, as I don't log into the hub system that often.

Paul, do you log into the hub locally, or via telnet/ssh?

Doh... I think I just figured it out...

At one point, I was trying to get this Mystic system set up as a QWK hub. It wasn't working, so I abandonded the idea.

However, the message bases still had the QWK id numbers set in the config, so Mystic was creating the QWKMAIL.OUT semaphore file, which didn't have an
    event set up to check...

    (Smacks forehead)

Sorry about that... Everything seems to be working now...

I don't usually, but I just tried and the semaphore picked up the echomail to fsxnet just fine for me.
