It may be that the build changes again before it sees the light of day on the downloads page of the website. I'll go have a look now and see if we can't update a few things at this end in the coming hours and with a few backups in place first :)

I'm curious to see if folks have staging instances where they test Mystic upgrades.

Just upgraded as per upgrade.txt and it went fantastic. Some things to note:
    1. Moves themes from default and /theme directory into /themes directory.
    2. Python improvements galore. Licking my lips at a few of the new commands.
    3. Fixed 2020 bug (haven't tested)
    4. Don't forget ot recompile MPL code
    5. Profit!

OMG! Christmas came ... a bit late? Or super early? Either way, exciting :)

Just an update from me so far.

I attempted to update the 1/100 HUB but hit some issues with missing prompts and the system crashing when I attempted to view them.

Like all pre-alphas this build is a work in progress.

I noted the upgrade.exe does not completely remove the old dirs that are usurped with the new theme dir and it's children. The upgrade.txt is a work
in progress also and misses out the need to compile the scripts in their new location.

I could not get the install extract prompts.dat c:\mystic\data to work in the win32 build.

I did a quick test before I restored 1/100 back to the current status quo and liked the new reporting inside MUTIL tossing (thanks g00r00) as it will make debugging a little easier.

I attempted to update the 1/100 HUB but hit some issues with missing prompts and the system crashing when I attempted to view them.

I just had this issue. When Mystic moved the themes, it created a prompts.txt and prompts.bak. I installed a fresh A44 and checked the prompts and they're identical in number (552) to A43. I checked my theme's prompts.bak and it matched fine. So I copied prompts.bak over to prompts.txt and issue resolved.

Just upgraded as per upgrade.txt and it went fantastic. Some things to

Did the upgrade over here & it went great. Made 3 backups in different places due to having done Windows upgrades in the past...it does take a computer to really screw things up or in my case a 58 year old bald/fat man. ;)

    1. Moves themes from default and /theme directory into /themes
    directory.

Something else not mentioned was it cleared out the scripts folder but puts
it all in the themes\default folder with the menus prompts.txt & text folder.

    4. Don't forget ot recompile MPL code

Ah...that's why I get the MPL error between the one liners/user feedback screens. Does that include everything in the scripts folder...such as games/added programs? Remind me/us on the steps to do this...since there are some decent changes.

Just got every script recompiled & no more error messages. Just ran mplc.exe
in the new scripts folder against every *.mps file in the folder. Had no problem with any of the scripts...except the to-prmpt...which you change in your prompts file.

My reading of the prompts.txt file that resides in a theme directory is that it is designed to override the prompts that sit otherwise in the prompts.dat file in data directory. I may be wrong.

    [snip]

    - Type "install extract prompts.dat <mystic data dir>" or you can install A44
to a temporarily directory and manually copy prompts.dat from the A44 data
directory. Example: install extract prompts.dat c:\mystic\data

    [snip]

Checking that file reveals the contents of what I'd expect to see in a stock prompts.txt file.

But yeah it seems there is a need to have the prompts.txt file in the default theme dir for things to work right now.

I may have another go shortly :)

This should definitely be treated as prealpha (like the URL mention) so don't go all crazy if you're not ready for bugs and hickups.

Not talking for you Avon, I know you know the drill but mostly for other
    sysops who might not .

OMG! Christmas came ... a bit late? Or super early? Either way, exciting :)

I'm curious to see if folks have staging instances where they test Mystic upgrades.

Make sure you have good backup plans when testing prealpha (or anything
    really)

    Cheers!

I checked my
theme's prompts.bak and it matched fine. So I copied prompts.bak over to prompts.txt and issue resolved.

prompts.txt now only contains prompts that are not system defaults (which is also a new thing). Some themes (like the default in a fresh install) don't even have a prompts.txt because the prompts are all default.

The reason for this change is automation. When new prompts are added you no longer have to edit any of your themes to add new prompts, unless of course
you don't like the default. If a prompt is missing from a theme and it isn't inherited from another theme, Mystic will just use the system default.

You should never get an error with prompts as long as you properly copied prompts.dat into your data folder. Assuming things are working correctly of course :)

Ok seems to be running fine on my end.. One bug I have found, when in the themes menu at the list of themes you can not hit the / key to move
around the themes, they are stuck in alphabetical order. Otherwise, so
far everything seems to be running fine.. I will post more if I find more...

There is going to be an "Display Order" number that will eventually work, although it doesn't now. Unfortunately until I get that done there is no way to change the order they appear within the editors anyway.

Just got every script recompiled & no more error messages. Just ran mplc.exe in the new scripts folder against every *.mps file in the
folder. Had no problem with any of the scripts...except the to-prmpt...which you change in your prompts file.

Themes are typically chosen before a user logs in, so there is no real
security that can be applied at that point. If I were to add an ACS it wouldn't really apply unless you tried to change the theme after logging in.

I suppose for the use case you're talking about that would probably work though, but I don't know how you'd test the login functions. Any ideas?

I'll check into the null prompts thing, thank you!

    Hello!

I asked for this also about a year (or two) ago. Maybe setting a theme active yes/no would be an idea. But the reason why I asked for this ACS controlled option is that I would like to swap from theme when I join a board/group/conference in my BBS. I could not think of another way to do this. Anyway if it could be done by a menu command -> "automatic/forced" theme
switch then it would be even better!

Thanks for your time and consideration. :)

During the new user login, the default theme would be used according to whatever the default login ACS would be. Any themes requiring validation
(such as s20 themes, dX whatever) would be unavailable.

ASCII/ANSI themes, e0/e1 (or no requirement for both) for ascii or ansi only themes.

    Hey g00r00,

The error I got was once the A44 moved the themese from A43, my prompts.txt only had about 50 prompts in it. They were still numbered according to what prompt they were supposed to be but all the prompts were not there. When I opened the prompts.txt from A44 in Mystic's prompt editor would say something like 1/552 on the first prompt but as you scroll you quickly realized that
only 50 prompts were there. A lot of my prompts were custom. I looked at the prompts.bak and it contained all the correct prompts. So I had to copy it back to prompts.txt to get everything going.

prompts.txt now only contains prompts that are not system defaults

My opinion, it looked like the upgrader in A44 parsed my themes' prompts.txt and only copied any prompts that were different from the defaults in data. If this was intended behavior, then it's not a bug. The only problem with this
is if you need edit your prompts after they've been filtered, they're not
there to edit unless you open prompts.dat in data and copy what's missing to theme folder's prompts.txt.

I hope this made some sense. Hahaha.

You *can* put all of the prompts in prompts.txt but you're just going to

manually do a bunch of stuff that otherwise would have been automated.
