• Not getting files from hub?

From Nodoka Hanamura@21:2/106 to All on Thu Oct 10 03:00:48 2019
Okay, I'm going to have a moment of humility here and say that I cannot for
the life of me understand how my node is supposed to get files from my FSXNET Hub (21:2/100).

I know as I asked a while back, that you can't get older files, but my BBS hasn't recieved any new ones. How do I go about getting files from the hub on
    a regular basis?

If you are connected to the file areas you'll get whatever is hatched.

You can count on getting the nodelist and fsxinfo.zip every week, Friday
I think and sometimes when there are new nodes another at odd times.

Other files will get hatched when folks send files in to be hatched. No
telling when that will happen, once in a while.

I apologise this is an area that needs work/effort on my end. Once I migrate the NET 1 HUB across to the new Linux box I will work on getting a few more files hatched out on a regular basis.

And he should prolly test by sending a netmail to filefix at the hub and
    doing a linked command?

Are you actually linked to the file areas on the hub? You sent
netmail(s) to 'Filefix@21:2/100' to request linkage?

If you haven't, that's likely why. Also things have to be set up
on your system to properly process the incoming files into the
appropriate file area on the BBS.

If I recall right, I did configure the File areas to their appropriate
network IDs, and I even recently sent a message to FileFix to try and "subscribe" (I think that was the term) to all file bases.

Well... "subscribe" isn't the term. Did you get a reply netmail
back from Filefix? You should have. If you did not, something is
not set up right. Probably a good idea to send another netmail to
Filefix with the "%HELP" command in the body of the message (and
your Filefix password on the subject line). This will cause Filefix
to reply to you with a message explaining all the various
commands/options that can be used. Save/print this and refer to it.
Also *VERIFY* (not just "recall) that the file areas are set up on
    the BBS. Good luck!

They are set up, Network shorthand names (i.e. FSX_IMGE) and all. Obviously since I'm not supposed to send anything out to the network, only recieve.
I thought I set up filefix, but I'll go through it again.

And I just got data back from THOLIAN HUB on that Filefix request, %LINKED reports the following:

Your FILEFIX request has been processed

    Command: %LINKED
Result: List of all linked areas:
    FSX_NODE Weekly Nodelists (fsxNet, etc.)
    FSX_INFO Weekly Infopacks (fsxNet, etc.)

That looks good. You are connected to the file areas. The FSX_NODE and
FSX_INFO areas are the most active. Black Panther also hatches stuff in FSX_IMGE once in a while too..

You'll see a post in FSX_GEN when Paul hatches stuff so you'll know what
    to expect.

    Hello Nodoka,

Okay, I'm going to have a moment of humility here and say that I cannot for the life of me understand how my node is supposed to get files from my FSXNET Hub (21:2/100).

Umm... Have you sent a netmail to your Fsxnet file feed requesting to be connected connected to the Fsxnet file echos of your choice? Or verified any existing link connection by sending a netmail addressed to Filefix at your file
hubs address requesting a list of linked file echos?

To send a Filefix netmail address the netmail message to "FileFix" and place y your FileFix password on the subject line.

On each line of the message text should be a single command which tells FileFix
to do something. Each command acted upon and the result of the command(s) will be included in the Netmail response message which you will receive from your Fsxnet file hub.

The commands that I recall are:

%ALL [search] Connect to All available areas.
%-ALL [search] Disconnect from All available areas.
%HELP Respond with a help message
    %PWD <new password> Changes your FileFix password.
%LIST [search] List all available file areas to you.
%LINKED List all already linked areas
%UNLINKED List of all unlinked areas
-ECHOTAG Remove (unlink) a file area.
+ECHOTAG Add (link) a file area
