• Hey all

From Avon@21:1/101 to All on Wed May 4 16:42:33 2022
Been a long few days here. I'm still working from home but I think there may be movement towards asking us to come in a bit more in the coming weeks. My end of the country still has higher Covid rates than in other areas of New Zealand so I am not overly keen but if I must I'll go in but stick to wearing a mask for now.

My risk appetite is low as I have elderly parents I may need to visit / support again over the coming months as their health declines. There's few family near them so I am more at the front lines of care / response than others living further away than I, and that's fine.

At work our manager of 10 years abruptly left his role just before Easter. Our team found out one day before he left. We're now getting a new interim manager for 9 months who will develop new strategic directions for our team which may well lead to a restructure although no one is saying that yet. So understandably I and my fellow team members are all a bit nervous as to what is to come. Yet there's nothing I can really do so have to roll with the process and see where things end up.

Have been watching quite a few 80s movies on a free streaming service called Tubi which I have been enjoying. Some good, some not so good. After a day in front of the PC at home working I tend to want to get away from the same desk I would do BBSing at and opt for some tube :)

Figured I'd better post something to confirm I have not left with Elvis :)

Same here...but have been getting into the old Westerns (especially speghetti<sp>)
on You Tube. Pluto TV is also another one I like to use.

Love them! I have had Britbox the past couple of years and their British TV selection is better than what Britbox has...minus the stop sets.

Will have to check them out! Was born in the early 60's...so didn't catch many of
these Westerns because of my age. Nothing like seeing the actors dressed in dusters
in Arizona in the summertime. ;) (Used to live on the Colorado River in Arizona for many years and a pair of cutoffs/t-shirt was usually worn year round.)

    Thanx for the information.

Used to watch Mission: Impossible on there...but they keep running the 1st 3 seasons over & over. Started watching The Outer Limits (from the 60's) on there as well. Heard they've also started running the Stargate series on there.

In terms of Star Trek...seems they only run the same TNG episodes over & over. As
for Discovery...still have to pay to see it here...while many other places get it
    on places like Pluto.

I have a problem with streaming services... definitely in so far as I'm not seeing value for money in any of them.. you get a few things worth watching
and the rest is like The Boss says, 57 channels and nothing on. I'm
certainly not going to sign up to 20000 different services for 2/3 of bugger all on each one...

    Hi all.

Well it's Sunday morning here, I'm adding in three new nodes today and responding to a few emails and netmails for help etc. Once done I need to mow some lawns. My younger son is staying with us for a week before he moves to a new city. It will be strange not to have him living nearby. I hope his new move / job go well.

A reminder I'm going to start posting welcome and admin info over in FSX_NET now instead of here. I encourage you to sub to that echomail area if you are not already linked to it.

Gah, just the thought of having to push that lawn mower... ah well :)

I feel your pain! It's not been warm enough to have the lawn grow. It's the leaves from the trees that have fallen that I've got to attack. We've had rain every 2/3 days that don't let them dry enough to mulch up. I really will get to it, I promised my wife! :(

Ah a comrade in arms :)

Yep over here it's the middle of summer and if I don't mow each week it gets harder to keep on top of things. It's been windy here and mostly OK weather wise but I'm feeling lazy and it's a Sunday. Plus I am doing network admin for fsx and I want to eat junk food etc. hahahah..

I guess I can look at mowing lawns as something like enforced exercise and an offset for some questionable snack food eating.

    Good luck with your leaves!

The only reason I don't do lawns (anymore) is because I am an apartment dweller.

In my youth we had a large yard, everyone did in my area. It was half an acre or perhaps a bit larger full of gardens, trees and even a boulder my dad had shipped in from the interior for some reason. It was shaped like a sofa, kind of neat but it was a boulder!

I used to cut the grass with a push mower, for years I did that. I never thought anything of it at the time but I wouldn't do it that way today. :)
