    I'm bacckk... muauauahahah.. lol

Wow, it's been a month I think, but it feels like ages since I've been "online". I supposed BBS years are faster? I dunnno. I will eventually pick up dev on MOZZT, and get my social and mail apps posted again, but no rush. I'd like to work on some more retro projects, but I have a habit of starting too many..

My daughter is getting me a wifi modem for my Tandy, or my old dell laptop from circa 2000?, so I plan on getting online with those late next month. I'm excited to take the Tandy for a spin!!! wooohooo!

LibreDOS dev is mostly halted. It's come a long way and there isn't much to do other than write/port userland. A few MSDOS games work with the emulation layer, and the GUI has some decent apps: IRC, FTP, Serial Terminal, Gopher browser, etc.

Anyway, sorry for not responding to msgs, I really don't visit other BBS's too often and I only have my networks on my BBS's atm. To be honest they're more for family anyway. We're running some family tree software and other apps that potentially could lead to security issues if they were public access.

Uhh, ok that's it! Seeya next month. :D

Ahh, I vividly remember really looking forward to snowstorms back in my teens for many reasons.

    1) School closing
    2) Falling snow was like falling money into my pockets. I would shovel so many neighbors driveways/walks, it meant more hard drives, upgraded modems, and whatever other tech I wanted at the time.

I worked (3) jobs at the same time in my High School years. I had a lawn service that I started when I was 13, I delivered newspapers each day, and painted apartments during summer break during the day.

That is how I paid for all my computers, storage, modems, phone line, etc back in the teenage years.

Same here. I've been working since I was 13. There was no allowance or rewards for good grades growing up... you wanted money for name-brand clothing or records, stereo equipment, BMX bike, skateboard etc or some "nerdy computer things"... you go out and work for it.

I mowed so many lawns, shoveled so many driveways... had a nice alcoholic couple who partied at the legion or whatever on weekends and desperately needed babysitting for their two brats. Paid me a ton of cash every time.

My kid has some of my work ethic but still feels entitled... unfortunately.

I grew up the exact same way. I was cutting lawns and started my first paper route when I was 11 years old. Rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain, no matter what, I was outside delivering papers even if that meant my hair having ice having ice hanging from it, in blizzards, etc.

Very few have that type of drive these days.

Okay, so a bit over a month for me to get a response, but, eh, hi!

no rush. I'd like to work on some more retro projects, but I have a

I'm feeling fairly similar. Though am hopeful that I'll get a bit of project time over the next few days. Though now I have trips to Hamburg and Berlin scheduled, so project time might still be short.

Now, BBSing project time... Yeah, too many projects, not enough time spent on the projects. At least to get lots of things done.

But always neat whenever one _does_ make progress on another thing, even if the audience is not a big one.

honest they're more for family anyway. We're running some family tree software and other apps that potentially could lead to security issues
    if they were public access.

I'm kind of wondering about that sort of thing, too. I was thinking of posting genealogy trip stuff online, but basically stopping with actual genealogy by only going up through the generation that's already dead.

But even then... It's always a bit weird to have stuff publicly searchable. Like we're all just a teensy bit away from some embarrassing news story if people dug enough.

Or probably just look at any of my posts from some long-ago time.

But, at the same time, genealogy is something that kind of has to be shared to be useful, and the more people share the more interesting it gets.

And if I were to put something online with the stories, it's something that likely appeals to the all the other people with in-common ancestors.
