Here's a ~12 min video of Leo Laporte talking with Cory Doctorow along with Brianna Wu & Alex Wilhelm about BBSes and Fidonet:

Leo mentions that he ran a two node BBS back in the day which carried
Fidonet. It looks like Leo was 1:125/21 back in 1986 according to nodehist.fidonet.org.ua.

It was neat seeing my name come up at 3:35 when Leo shows the Fidonet nodelist... :)

They didn't really mention how today's BBSes use the internet
for connections. They assumed that a "BBS" was still dialup.
